Minister of Immigration: These are the plans of the National Committee for Women’s Welfare, and the displacement camps will be closed soon

Baghdad The Ministry of Migration and Displacement revealed the mechanism of work of the National Ministerial Committee for Women’s Welfare, and government plans to end the displacement file and close the camps for the displaced.

The Minister of Immigration, Evan Faiq, stated, in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA), that “the National Committee for Women’s Welfare was established under the auspices of the Ministry of Immigration and the membership of most government institutions, especially the Ministries of Interior, Health and Labor, following the emergence of a group of cases in the displacement camps, in order to place an integrated study to reduce this phenomenon.

She explained, “The committee, at the beginning of its formation, was concerned only with the Ministry’s care categories, displaced women, refugees, and displaced women, and then expanded to include work in all regions of Iraq, especially with regard to the file of suicide cases, violence, and electronic extortion.”

The minister continued, “We have joint efforts with the Women’s Empowerment Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and we will prepare a comprehensive technical study that will be implemented by the Women’s Empowerment Department,” noting that “the Ministry of Interior is the one who provides us with statistics, and we have a new meeting soon to find out the average figures for these cases.”

Regarding the number of women in the displacement camps, she confirmed: “The majority of those inside the displacement camps are women and more than men.

Regarding the time limit for closing the displacement camps, she explained that “the Ministry of Immigration has joint programs with the regional government for the process of voluntary return and ending the displacement file, because the majority of the camps are in the region,” noting : “The last camp for which the central government is responsible is Al-Jada’a Center for Psychological Rehabilitation, which will continue, given that there is a return from Al-Hol camp.”

She explained: “The last camp that will be closed during the coming period is the “Jada’a 5” camp, after more than 250 families were returned, and very few numbers remained, and they will be integrated in another region, because most of them have clan problems, and we also have a joint plan with the Kurdistan region to work on the camps of the region.
