Minister of Immigration: We are coordinating with the Swedish government to retrieve the burner of the Holy Quran

The Minister of Immigration and Displacement, Evan Faeq Jabro, said today, Saturday, that there will be coordination with the Swedish government to retrieve the burner of the Holy Quran and ensure that this incident does not recur.

A statement by the Ministry said: “Jabro participated in a stand condemning the repeated incident of burning copies of the Holy Qur’an in the state of Sweden, in the Church of Our Lady of Deliverance in the center of the capital, Baghdad, in the presence of the Archbishop of Baghdad of the Syriac Catholics, His Excellency Mor Ephrem Youssef Aba, and a large gathering of members of the Christianity sect, and sheikhs and dignitaries from all components of the country.

Jabro stressed, according to the statement, that “the repeated incident of burning copies of the Holy Qur’an is behind it parties that do not want goodness and peace for humanity. All religions and heavenly books have all respect and appreciation, and it is not permissible to be transgressed by anyone,” calling on the State of Sweden to hold the person who committed this act accountable with the most severe punishments and not allowing this abuse to be repeated.

She praised the efforts of the Supreme Judicial Council and its president, Judge Faeq Zaidan, for issuing an arrest warrant against this person and asking Sweden to extradite him to Iraq, noting at the same time that “the Ministry of Migration and Displacement will have a position, through coordination with the Swedish government, to retrieve the wanted person and ensure that this incident does not recur.”
