National Greening Forum Starts in Riyadh


Riyadh: The first National Greening Forum was launched today here under the patronage of Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman AlFadley.

The forum, organized by the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC), is also attended by Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing Majed Al-Hogail, several other ministers, and entities and specialists from various local, regional, and international sectors related to the environment.

The two-day forum will witness panel discussions involving officials from various local and international public and private environmental organizations.

Topics will cover the progress of the National Greening Program, lessons learned from a variety of local and global projects, factors that help boost afforestation, wider community participation, and technical and technological solutions to attain success in the field.

Also reviewed will be successful afforestation models, investment opportunities, and sector
developments.

The forum highlights the role of public, private, and non-profit sectors in achieving the Saudi Green Initiative target of planting 10 billion trees, and will help increase communication among participating entities, provide them with information and updates, and assist them in playing their role in the program, thus ensuring comprehensive action.
