NATO Joint Command Commander: We Will Continue To Work To Build Iraqi Institutions

The capital, Baghdad, witnessed today, Wednesday, the ceremony of replacing the leadership of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization “NATO” in Iraq, in the presence of security and military leaders and representatives of international missions and UN organizations operating in Iraq.

The Commander of the Joint Allied Command in Naples, Lieutenant General Stuart Munch, said, during the official ceremony for the replacement of the NATO command in Iraq, today, Wednesday, in Baghdad, that “the ceremony of changing power represents a continuation of leadership and the continuation of power, which is the commitment of our partnership to work within the NATO mission in Iraq.”

He added, “Through our work as a commander of the coalition forces, the NATO mission in Iraq is an advisory and training mission operating in Iraq at the request of the government to support the Iraqi forces and train the next generation.”

He continued: “Our partnership requires cooperation with Iraqi officials, and we cooperate with them and continue to work in order to build Iraqi institutions, and through our communication with Iraqi leaders, it became clear to us that the NATO mission in Iraq is strong and serious in its work, as well as through the good relations that the former commander built with Our Iraqi counterparts.
