OIC Emphasizes Significance of 2-State Solution to Realize Comprehensive Peace, despite the Cease-Fire

Jeddah, Secretariat General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) emphasized here today that despite stopping hostilities by Israel and the cease-fire, however realizing a just, lasting and comprehensive peace shall be based on dialogue, UN relevant resolutions, the two-state solution as provided by the Arab Peace initiative and establishing the Palestinian independent state, with Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital on the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel since 1967.

Addressing the UN General Assembly extraordinary session which began yesterday, OIC Secretary General Dr. Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen reiterated underscoring the conclusions of the virtually and openly held extraordinary meeting of its executive committee at the level of the member states’ foreign ministers, as requested by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, that took place on May 16 2021, which included rejection and denunciation of the ongoing Israeli colonization of the occupied Palestinian territories, in East Jerusalem and establishing an Apartheid-like system, remarkably, through constructing colonies, destruction of the Palestinians properties, building a wall for further expansion, confiscating of land lots, houses and properties, evacuation of Palestinians and forcibly deporting them from their houses and land lots.

OIC, he added, reasserts the pronouncement of the urgent meeting held at the foreign minister level, of deep concern, especially, over the accelerating tempo of Israeli colonization policy of the Palestinian territories, namely the threat to evict hundreds of the Palestinian families from their homes, forcibly, in East Jerusalem (AlQuds), by the extremist settlers backed up and supported by the Israeli occupation authorities as well as the racial courts
