OIC General Secretariat Participates in 37th Session of Islamic Committee of the International Crescent in Jordan

Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) participated in the 37th session of the Islamic Committee of the International Crescent, held virtually in the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Amman, today.

The OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural, and Social Affairs, Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet, chaired the organization in the session, where he delivered a speech in which he pointed out that the session is being held at a time when Israel continues to commit genocide operations against the defenseless Palestinian people in Gaza with disregard for all humanitarian values and laws in addition to the occupation forces continuing to obstruct the provision of aid to the people of Gaza, calling for concerted efforts and initiatives at the level of Red Crescent societies in the Islamic world to contain the consequences of the humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip.

Ambassador Bakheet illustrated that the session is taking place amid major humanitar
ian challenges facing the Islamic world, such as natural disasters and other humanitarian crises due to conflicts and wars, which calls for intensifying effective efforts to mitigate their effects, developing humanitarian action strategies to face these challenges, and continuing to establish partnerships with the humanitarian community.

Ambassador Bakheet also thanked the Jordanian government for hosting this session.
