The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, received today the Special Envoy of the European Union to the OIC, Ambassador Patrick Simonnet, on the occasion of the end of his tenure.
During the meeting, they tackled prospects for cooperation between the OIC and the EU and the issue of the repeated crime of desecration and burning of copies of the Holy Qur’an in Sweden and Denmark.
Furthermore, during the meeting, His Excellency stressed the importance of the content of the decision issued by the extraordinary Council of Foreign Ministers held on July 31, 2023.
For his part, the EU’s Special Envoy condemned the European Union Commission for those disgraceful incidents.
Both sides stressed the importance of continuing dialogue on this issue.
