OIC Special Envoy and UN Secretary General’s Special Representative Discuss Joint Cooperation in Supporting Afghanistan

OIC Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, H.E. Amb. Tarig Ali Bakheet today held discussions with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General (SRSG) for Afghanistan, H.E. Roza Otunbayeva at the UNAMA Office in Kabul, Afghanistan. The SRSG was accompanied in the meeting by her Deputy (Political) Mr. Markus Potzel.

At the meeting, the OIC Special Envoy briefed the SRSG on OIC’s work carried out on Afghanistan under his mandate and thanked the UN for its efforts in supporting the people of Afghanistan.

Both sides exchanged views on ways in which the OIC and the UN could further collaborate on addressing the humanitarian and developing challenges facing Afghanistan.

The OIC Special Envoy is accompanied on the visit by the Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, H.E. Amb. Yousuf Aldobeay and the Director General of the (OIC) office in Afghanistan, Dr Muhammad Saeed Al-Ayash , the Director of Asian Affairs, Amb. Ahmed Sareer, and Dr. Yasmi Adriansyah, Professional Officer.
