Baghdad The US Embassy in Iraq commented today, Tuesday, on the incident of the killing of an American citizen in the capital, Baghdad, by unknown gunmen.
The Embassy said in a statement: “The United States mission in Iraq confirms the death of American citizen Stephen Edward Troel in Baghdad, and we are closely monitoring the investigation of the local authorities into the cause of death.”
It added, “We extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased for their loss, and stand ready to provide all necessary assistance through our consulate… out of respect for the privacy of the deceased’s family during this difficult time.”
“We have no further comment,” it concluded.
Yesterday evening, Monday, unidentified gunmen killed a citizen of the United States, in the Karrada area, in the center of the capital, Baghdad.
