Naif Arab University Organizes Workshop on Dangers of “Drones in Important Locations”, in South Korea

Cheonan– Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS), in cooperation with the Korean National Police University and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), organized today a workshop in the city of Cheonan, South Korea, themed “Methods and Strategies to Confront the Dangers of “Drones” in Important Locations”, to keep pace with technical developments of security dangers and challenges, including dangers of drones.

This comes within the NAUSS’s annual programs aimed at developing international cooperation and strategic partnerships, which aim to transform the interest in combating terrorism into a tangible reality that contributes to strengthening international efforts to address these crimes.

Soudah Development: Start of reproduction of Nubian ibexes launched by the company in cooperation with national center for wildlife

Abha — The Soudah Development, a company of the Public Investment Fund, announced that six newborn Nubian ibexes have been welcomed, after the company launched the ibexes in last December in cooperation with the National Center for Wildlife, as part of efforts exerted to maintain the environment and relocate the endangered species.

Soudah Development has launched 15 endangered ibexes in Soudah area with the aim of relocating endangered wild animals to their indigenous area and protecting the natural environment in the area of the Soudah development projects and parts of Ragal Almaa area.

This initiative contributes to supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s environmental efforts, where Soudah Development continues its efforts in preserving biodiversity and restoring environmental balance to instill the concept of environmental sustainability in Soudah, which is home to several beings, including the ibex.

OIC Welcomes Election of Somali President

Jeddah — The Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the confidence placed by the two Chambers of the Somali Parliament, the People’s Assembly and the Senate, in Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who was elected as President of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha extended his sincere congratulations to the President elect, wishing him success in his mandate to achieve the aspirations of the Somali people.

The OIC Secretary General also offered his warmest congratulations to the Somali people on the success of this election. He reiterated the OIC support to the Federal Republic of Somalia at this crucial stage and in its quest to promote security, stability and development.

Amidst Warm Welcome that Suits them, their Achievements, Saudi Team for Science, Engineering Arrives in Saudi Arabia Following Historical Achievement in ISEF 2022

Riyadh — Members of the Saudi team for science and engineering, who won 22 awards in the 2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2022), arrived in Riyadh yesterday, along with Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness Creativity (Mawhiba) Eng. Faisal Al-Dweish, amidst a warm welcome at the King Khalid International Airport from education and Mawhiba officials and parents.

Mawhiba Secretary General Dr. Saud Al-Mathami extended his sincerest congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for this new historical and exceptional national achievement of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in ISEF 2022.

Dr. Al-Mathami noted that what has been achieved in ISEF 2022 represents a qualitative leap in the talents, capabilities, culture and knowledge of the homeland’s people and that the future will be better under the reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.

The secretary general said this historical achievement will be a turning point in the process of Mawhiba that will instill the pioneering of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the map of talents and creativity and the status of the foundation that adopts the most comprehensive approach in caring for the talented at the international level, noting that Mawhiba has a high ambition to realize the directives of the wise leadership in graduating generations of Saudi and international talented people who are capable of creating a different future and facing the challenges of the sustainable development of today’s world.

Minister of Health Meets with Danish Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

Riyadh — Minister of Health Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajil met here today with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ole Mosby.

During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues of common interest and ways to enhance health cooperation between the two countries.

The Danish Ambassador toured the virtual health hospital and was briefed on its services.

11 Languages to Reply to Visitors’ Questions through Guiding Robot at Grand Holy Mosque

Makkah — The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and Prophet’s Holy Mosque, represented by the questioners guidance department, has introduced a guiding robot that guides visitors on how to perform Umrah, provides ifta and reply to questions, with the possibility to add simultaneous interpretation for other languages and to communicate with sheikhs remotely, put several guidelines in more than one language through the remotely controlled robot.

The guiding robot supports 11 languages: Arabic, English, French, Russian, Persian, Turkish, Malawi, Urdu, Chinese, Bengali, and Hausa, where the robot includes a 21-inch touch monitor that can be useful for several services of interest to visitors of the Grand Holy Mosque for purposes of guidance and giving opinions.

The robot has four wheels equipped with a smart stop system that allows it to be moved easily, and it also has a system of high definition front and down cameras for transmitting images through capturing a panoramic view of the area and high quality speakers, and a high quality microphone, where the robot works through WiFi network with a speed of 5 gigahertz for a quick transmission of data.

Minister of Tourism Meets with Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand

Riyadh — Minister of Tourism Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khateeb met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand Don Pramudwinai.

At the outset of the meeting, Al-Khateeb welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, pointing to the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism after the resumption of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He stressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s interest in the tourism sector in accordance with the Saudi Vision 2030 and the importance of achieving recovery and sustainability in the sector because it represents the most important sources of income and employment in the world.

Yemeni Minister of Information Calls for International Pressure on Houthi Militia to Halt Manufacturing, Laying Mines

Aden — Yemeni Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani has called on the international community, the United Nations and UN Special Envoy to pressure on Houthi militia to halt manufacturing and laying all kinds of mines, along with handing over maps of minefields and supporting the Yemeni government’s programs to clear Yemeni lands from mines, as well as rehabilitating the injured and reintegrating them back into society.

Minister Al-Eryani said in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) that the Houthi militia laid mines in public and private facilities, homes, markets, main and secondary streets and farms, without differentiating between a civilian and military target, as tens of thousands of civilians were killed, mostly women, children and elderly people or survived after their limbs were amputated.

Al-Eryani pointed out that civilian casualties continue on an almost daily basis as a result of the mines that were planted by the Houthi militia in populated areas in various Yemeni governorates, adding that the mines also prevent millions from returning to their homes, villages and farms to lead their normal lives.

He praised the efforts of his country’s government, through the National Mine Action Program with support of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Masam project to clear the Yemeni lands from mines, in addition to providing medical and psychological support to the injured and educate local communities on their dangers and how to deal with them.

An Official Source Refutes Misperceptions in the Media Towards the City of NEOM

Jeddah — An official source stated that NEOM is considered one of the Public Investments Fund’s major strategic projects that is absolutely subject to the sovereignty and systems of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The source categorically denied the comments made by the Head of the Tourism Sector at NEOM Andrew McEvoy regarding the demographic situation inside the City of the Future or that they would enjoy a special characteristic or nickname to distinguish them from others.

The source noted that NEOM project will work within special economic zones that are subject to the sovereignty and economy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in terms of security, defense and regulatory aspects. This will be accompanied by developing special economic legislations related to the project in a way that achieves the best concepts of governance of economic zones in the world, so that NEOM turns to become among the most important points of attraction globally.

A 15-Hour Surgery to Separate Yemeni Siamese Completed Successfully in Riyadh

Riyadh, May 15, 2022, SPA — In implementation of directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s specialist surgions have once again succeeded to separate the Yemeni siamese Yousef and Yassin, sons of Mohammed Abdulrahman, during a complicated non-stop 15-hour long operation

in which 24 doctors specialized in pediatric neurosurgery, plastic surgery, anesthesia, nursing and techniciams, led by Dr. Mutasem Al-Zughbi took part, it was reported here today.

The report was made by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), Head of the Medical and Surgical Team of Siamese Separation Operations, who confirmed that today’s four-phase surgery is among the most complicated as the twins, who have undergone their second operation in this regard, are conjoined in several organs, thanking the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his humanitarian deeds.

For their part, parents of the twins extended thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his generousity and kindness, wishing him continuous health and happiness.

Ex-president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Elected new President of Somalia

Mogadishu, May 15, 2022, SPA — Ex-president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was elected new President of Somalia during presidential elections held under protection of African Union peacekeepers in capital Mogadishu today.

The presidential elections committee said, in a statement, that Mohamud collected 214 votes against 110 cast in favor of incubent president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo in a final third round.

In a previous second runoff, the number of presidential candidates decreased from 36 to four. They were Saeed Abdullah Dani, Head of Bilad Bant State; incubent president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo; Ex-president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud; and former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khairi.
