Kuwaiti Cabinet strongly condemns continued threat of terrorist Houthi militia to security of Saudi Arabia

Kuwaiti, The Kuwaiti Cabinet has expressed its condemnation and denunciation in the strongest terms, the Iran-backed terrorist militia’s continued threat to the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by targeting the southern region with three drones.

During its weekly meeting chaired by Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait, the Council made it clear that the continuation of these aggressive practices and targeting civilians, civilian areas, the security of the Kingdom and the stability of the region constitutes a flagrant violation of the rules of international and humanitarian law, and requires the international community to move quickly and decisively to deter these threats, and hold the perpetrators accountable.

The Kuwaiti Cabinet also condemned the armed robbery of the UAE-flagged cargo ship Rawabi off the port of Hodeidah.

KSrelief Supervisor General Meets Ambassador of Ethiopia

Riyadh, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah met in Riyadh today Ambassador of the Republic of Ethiopia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Lencho Bati.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of common interest related to humanitarian and relief affairs.

The ambassador praised the distinguished humanitarian efforts exerted by KSrelief to support all afflicted peoples and countries, extending his thanks and appreciation for the assistance provided by Saudi Arabia, through the center, to Ethiopia, which embodied the depth of relations between the two countries.

OIC Expresses Concerned over Critical Health Condition of Palestinian Prisoner Hisham Abu Hawash

Jeddah, The Secretariat General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed grave concern over the critical health situation of the Palestinian prisoner Hisham Abu Hawash, who is on an open hunger strike for the 141st day in protest against his detention without trial in the Israeli occupation jails.

In a statement, Secretary General Mr Hissein Brahim Taha said the OIC stands in support of Palestinian prisoners and will continue to channel their voice and convey their ordeal to the world at large.

He also called on international human rights institutions to immediately interfere to secure the release of Hisham Abu Hawash and all other Palestinian prisoners held without trial or charge, and to pressurize Israel, the occupation force, to honor its obligations under the international human rights law, international humanitarian instruments and relevant Geneva conventions on Palestinian prisoners and detainees in occupation prisons.

Health Minister Stresses Efficiency of COVID-19 Vaccines in Reducing Hospital Admission

Riyadh, Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel stressed that COVID-19 vaccine has proven efficiency in reducing symptoms resulting from contracting the COVID-19 virus and its benefits in reducing the number of cases admitted to hospitals and alleviating pressure on hospitals. He noted that worry now is for categories that have not completed their doses, where the majority of people in ICUs are those who are not fully immunized.

The minister noted that the ministry is currently observing an increase in the number of infections of the virus, as it also expects the numbers to further increase over the next few days, wishing safety for the people.

Saudi Stock Exchange Main Index Ends Trading Higher at 11,356 Points

Riyadh, Saudi Stock Exchange’s main index ended trading higher here today, gaining 29.28 points to close at 11,356.80 points.

The total value of the trading reported was SAR 5.4 billion, while the toll of shares traded was 134 million, divided into over 280,000 deals.

The Saudi Parallel Equity Market Index (NOMU) ended the day losing 252.44 points, to close at 25,777.66 points, with a valuation of SAR 109 million and an overall tally of more than 590,000 stocks traded and divided into as many as 4,526 deals.

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Inaugurates e-Platform for Crisis & Emergency Management

Riyadh, The Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef has inaugurated the electronic platform for crisis and emergency management in the industry and mineral wealth system.

The electronic platform is concerned with documenting best practices for managing records of risks, crises and accidents in the industrial and mining sectors.

It includes members from all parts of the system, in order to achieve the Ministry’s goals in leading the identification of risks and prevention and leadership in crisis and emergency management by working on managing, coordinating, passing, exchanging and analyzing communications and information, and enhancing the ability to respond to crises, in order to preserve lives and property.

Arab Parliament: Houthi Militia’s Continued Terrorist Attacks towards Saudi Arabia Undermines Security and Stability in the Region

Cairo, The Arab Parliament has condemned the continuation of terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the latest of which was the launch of three drones towards the southern region, which the coalition forces supporting legitimacy in Yemen have intercepted successfully.

In a statement yesterday, the Arab Parliament called on the international community to act urgently and work immediately to stop supplying the terrorist Houthi militia with weapons it uses in its military operations against civilians and innocents, stressing that the continuation of the Houthi coup militia in its terrorist acts proves that it is not ready to participate in efforts to resolve the crisis in Yemen peacefully.

The Parliament held the Iranian regime full responsible for all terrorist acts carried out by the militia, and its insistence on spreading chaos, sabotage and destruction in the Arab region by supplying it with smart weapons, ballistic missiles, drones, experts and military advisors to serve its expansionist project and subversive agenda in the region.

The Arab Parliament reiterated its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the measures it is taking to confront these terrorist attacks, stressing that they undermine security and stability in the region and constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, as well as a clear violation of the Stockholm Agreement to ceasefire.

Asian Stocks Mixed

Beijing, Asian stock markets were mixed Monday on 2022’s first trading day after Wall Street ended last year with a double-digit gain, the Associated Press reported.

Hong Kong retreated while Seoul gained. Markets in Japan, China and Australia were closed.

The Hang Seng in Hong Kong lost 0.6% to 23,252.69 while Seoul’s Kospi rose 0.4% to 2,990.80.

India’s Sensex opened up 1% at 58,809.99. Singapore, Jakarta and Malaysia advanced.

Also Monday, Singapore’s government announced its economy grew by 7.2% last year, rebounding from the previous year’s 5.4% contraction.

In energy markets, benchmark U.S. crude rose 56 cents to $75.77 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell $1.78 on Friday to $75.21. Brent crude, the price basis for international oils, gained 54 cents to $78.32 per barrel in London. It lost $1.75 the previous session to $77.78 per barrel.

The dollar advanced to 115.28 yen from Friday’s 115.09 yen. The euro declined to $1.1341 from $1.1383.

Riyadh, Saudi Stock Exchange’s main index ended trading lower here today, gaining 4.39 points to close at 11,327.52 points.

The total value of the trading reported was SAR 6.6 billion, while the toll of shares traded was 188 million, divided into over 330,000 deals.

The Saudi Parallel Equity Market Index (NOMU) ended the day losing 245.49 points, to close at 26,030.10 points, with a valuation of SAR 107 million and an overall tally of more than 730,000 stocks traded and divided into as many as 4,476 deals.

Crown Prince of Bahrain praises the historical Saudi-Bahraini relations

Riyadh, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain praised the historical ties between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in all fields, emanating from the leadership of the two countries’ keenness on strengthening the bilateral ties in all fields. He stressed Bahrain’s keenness to continue bolstering the relations of the two countries to continue achieving common aspirations towards greater prosperity and development for the two countries and peoples.

This came during Bahraini Crown Prince’s meeting at Gudaibiya Palace in Manama, Bahrain, today, with the Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, and the accompanying delegation, currently on an official visit to Bahrain at the invitation of the Bahraini Speaker of the Council of Representatives Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal.

The Bahraini Crown Prince welcomed Dr. Al Al-Sheikh and the accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay, and that their visit receives the desired success to achieve more joint work between the two countries in the parliamentary affairs in a way that achieves common visions as reflected in strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Ministry of Health Reports 1,746 New COVID-19 Cases, 341 Recoveries in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced the registration of 1,746 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 341 recoveries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the past 24 hours.

The ministry added that the number of critical cases reached 90.

The ministry’s statistics showed that the total number of infections in the country reached 559,852, while the recovery tally reached 542,754.

MoH reported two new deaths, bringing the fatalities tally in Saudi Arabia to 8,881.

The Ministry of Health advised everyone to contact 937-Service Center for consultations and inquiries around the clock, obtaining reliable health information and services, as well as knowing the latest development of COVID-19.

Cases that Need Health Care, Hospitalization and Admission to Critical Care are Mostly of Individuals who have not Completed Vaccination Doses

Riyadh, Official Spokesman of the Ministry of Health Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdulaali said that the world is witnessing the highest rate of daily cases since the beginning of the pandemic with the last wave registering the highest rate compared to previous waves of the coronavirus, due to the rapid spread of the omicron variant globally.

In his daily briefing, he added that the epidemiological curve in the Kingdom records a wave that matches with the global wave and a high acceleration in the rate of daily cases within the last four days. It is expected to continue to increase, however, the acceleration may decrease by adhering to the preventive precautions and receiving the necessary vaccines, he said.

Al-Abdulaali added that cases that need health care, hospitalization and admission to critical care are of those who have not completed the two doses of vaccines, stressing that the booster dose is binding for those recovering from the virus, as it reduces the chances of infection with the mutants, and reduces the chances of infection with the virus. Pregnant women need a booster dose, he went on to say.

He stressed that the specialized studies indicated that long-term or persistent symptoms after infection with the COVID-19 virus may last for weeks or months, but completing immunization protects from long symptoms, adding that the number of doses given in the Kingdom exceeded more than 51 million doses, with more than 23.1 million individuals are fully immune.
