Youth Minister participates in Rotary Club Manama event

Manama, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, participated in an event hosted by Rotary Club Manama.

Renuka Nambiar, President of Rotary Club Manama, was present.

The minister emphasised the importance of empowering youth through innovative programmes and highlighted their important role in the development of the Kingdom.

Tawfiqi noted that the ministry’s youth empowerment strategy is built upon two key elements, which include a talent development methodology for identifying, refining, and showcasing youth talents, and the 5+1 Pillars of Youth Work.

The strategy aims to create a comprehensive framework that empowers young individuals to contribute to the Kingdom’s advancement, she added.

The ministry also launched several initiatives to identify and nurture youth talents, which include the King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, the Nasser Bin Hamad International Youth Creativity Award, the National Project Lamae, the Masarari “My Path” Project, an
d the Documentary Film Programme.

For her part, Nambiar thanked the minister for her effort in supporting the Bahraini youth, affirming the club’s commitment to supporting the ministry’s initiatives and strategies aimed at young people.

HH Shaikh Nasser: Youth capabilities represent half of present, entirety of future

Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, spoke at the opening of the Arab Youth Media Forum, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The forum was organised as part of the Arab Media Summit 2024. It aims to empower and engage youth in the media industry.

Upon arrival, HH Shaikh Nasser was received by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.

In the segment “In Conversation: HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad, His Highness said believing in youth was a facet of the Arab culture. His Highness emphasised that the UAE’s commitment to supporting Arab youth through initiatives like hosting the Arab Media Forum in Dubai, came within the framework of the priorities of joint Arab action.

His Highness underscored the importance of supporti
ng Arab youth by developing their skills to build the future of their countries, noting that the capabilities of youth reprsented half of the present and the entirety of the future. His Highness emphasised the significance of national identity as the guiding force for the Arab nation’s achievements, recalling that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founder of the UAE, has once said that those who do not have a past, do not have a present nor a future.

His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa emphasised the role of Arab youth in harnessing media to positively engage with regional developments and changes.

His Highness highlighted Bahrain’s efforts to empower youth by providing them with opportunities to build and modernise, instilling confidence to implement their ideas, and cultivating a culture of faith and hope.

Resistance fighters in the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday night killed, wounded, or captured several Israeli soldiers in a complicated ambush operation, Abu Obeida said in an audio file.

According to Al-Jazeera, Abu Obeida noted that Hamas fighters ‘lured a Zionist force’ into a tunnel and ‘killed, wounded, and captured’ an unidentified number in northern Gaza’s Jabalia camp.

He stressed that the enemy continues a blind and absurd policy of revenge and destruction.

He added that further details about the ambush operation would be released soon.

The people of Lebanon and the West Bank poured into the streets to celebrate after the spokesman for the Qassam Brigades announced that Zionist troops had been captured in northern Gaza.

The Palestinian Samaa news agency reported that people also took to the streets to celebrate in the towns of Dura and Tyre, as well as in the Palestinian refugee camps of Ain al-Hilweh, Nahr al-Bared, El-Buss, and Rashidieh in Lebanon.

Minister of Health Attends 77th World Health Assembly in Switzerland

Riyadh: Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel started today his official visit to Switzerland, where he leads the Kingdom’s delegation at the 77th World Health Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO), which takes place at the UN headquarters in Geneva.

Al-Jalajel is expected to engage in discussions with international counterparts and leaders of organizations to foster cooperation and tackle health-related topics. He will also participate in accompanying events focused on health security and improvement of global health.

Al-Jalajel will also attend the 60th session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers’ executive office, accompanied by a delegation comprising several undersecretaries and health leaders from Saudi Arabia.

Wide-Ranging Services Provided to Persons with Disabilities at the Grand Mosque

Makkah, The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques exerts great efforts to care for people with disabilities and serve them in the best possible way at the Grand Mosque, so they can carry out their rituals with ease and comfort.

The authority designates areas for them to perform prayers, near the doors of the Grand Mosque to facilitate their entry and exit; these areas have Zamzam water bottles, copies of the holy Qur’an in Braille, various other books, tayammum pads (dry ritual purification), white canes for the blind, and sign language interpreters qualified to translate sermons and religious lessons.

It also provides wheelchairs and electric carts at various locations in and around the Grand Mosque, to ensure that persons with disabilities enjoy the utmost comfort.

Forming an investigation committee into the circumstances of the accident that claimed the life of a young man in Tulkarm

Tulkarm – Ma’an – Tulkarm Governor Mustafa Taqatqa announced that an investigation committee will be formed into the circumstances of the accident that claimed the life of the young man, Muhammad Ahmed Al-Khatib, from Nour Shams camp.

Taqatqa said in a press statement that the families of the young Khatib and all citizens will be informed of what happened, offering condolences to his relatives and his family, calling for strengthening national unity and preserving civil peace and the social fabric, especially in this difficult circumstance that our people and our Palestinian cause are going through.

He stressed that the law will take its due course.

In turn, police spokesman Colonel Louay Irziqat said that while a security force was setting up a checkpoint near the Pharaoh roundabout, to maintain security as part of a routine operation, a vehicle approached the checkpoint and its driver was given a signal to stop, but he refused to do so and rammed the checkpoint, trying to run over members of the force, f
orcing it to fire. Several gunshots were fired, then the vehicle crashed into an electricity pole. The driver was taken to the hospital injured, and doctors later declared his death.

He added that when the vehicle was searched, the security services seized a firearm and ammunition.

Irziqat confirmed that the Public Prosecution was informed and an investigation into the incident was initiated.

The United Nations Population Fund warned that ‘half of the population of the Gaza Strip is at risk of imminent famine, including about 15,000 pregnant women.’

The Fund added, in a post on its account on the ‘X’ platform, today, Sunday, that ‘half of the population of the Gaza Strip is at risk of imminent famine, and this is unbelievable and can be avoided.’

It continued: “When the doors of aid close, the doors of famine open,” stressing on the need for “an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, given its residents’ dire need for humanitarian aid.”

The Islamic Resistance announced, in an issued communiqué this evening that in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and their honorable resistance, its fighters targeted at 06:00 pm today the headquarters of the enemy’s Habushit Barracks with missiles.

In another communiqué, it indicated that in support of the brave and resilient Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and in response to the Zionist enemy’s attacks on Lebanon’s steadfast southern villages, the last of which being the town square of Houla, the Resistance fighters bombed today the Kiryat Shmona settlement with Falaq and Katyusha rockets.

Additionally, it also indicated that its fighters bombed the enemy’s Yiftah Barracks with dozens of Katyusha rockets and the Ramim Barracks with missile weapons and artillery shells.

Lebanon’s Honorary Consul in Florence, Charbel al-Shbeir, and his two brothers, Zakhia and Paul, held a luncheon in honor of Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, at the Osteria Dell’Olio in Florence, in the presence of Caretaker Ministers of Interior and Tourism, Bassam Mawlawi and Walid Nassar, alongside the ‘Strong Lebanon’ Parliamentary Bloc Head, MP Gebran Bassil and his wife Chantal, the Lebanese and Palestinian Ambassadors to Italy, Mira Daher and Abeer Audeh, the Lebanese Consul in Naples, Zakhia al-Kouba, the Patriarchal Delegate to the Holy See, President of the Pontifical Maronite Institute, Bishop John Rafik al-Warsha, the General President of the Lebanese Maronite Order, Abbot Hadi Mahfouz, and several prominent religious figures and dignitaries and members of the Lebanese community residing abroad.

In his welcoming speech, al-Shbeir said: ‘We meet again to rejoice together in the fruitful outcome of the efforts made to open the parish of Saint Charbel in Florence, with the bless
ing of His Beatitude and the blessing of Saint Charbel.’

He added: “Saint Charbel is not only a saint for Maronites and Christians, but his miracles transcended the entire world. He did not distinguish between religion, sect, or race, but crossed all sects…We hope that he will bestow upon us and our nation a miracle that will save it from the difficult situation in which it is floundering.”

In turn, Minister Nassar praised ‘the initiative taken by the senior consul and the sacrifices he is making for Lebanon in these difficult circumstances,’ and thanked Minister Bassil for the good decision of appointing al-Shbeir as honorary consul in Florence during his term as Foreign Affairs Minister, as he has proven to be up to the responsibility in highly representing Lebanon.

Nassar announced a decision that will be issued tomorrow upon his return to Lebanon to include the Saint Charbel Parish Church in Florence on the global tourism map and promote it worldwide.

In this context, Nassar presented Shbeir with an
honorary shield in appreciation of his remarkable efforts and dedication to his country.
