President of Senegal Receives SFD CEO

Dakar, Aug. 23, 2022, SPA — President of the Republic of Senegal Macky Sall received here late Tuesday the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Sultan bin Abdurrahman Al-Marshad and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Saudi Ambassador to Senegal Sa’ad bin Abdullah Al-Nafiei, as part of the visit of the SFD’s delegation to Dakar.

The visit aims at signing a financing agreement for a development project in the transport and communications sector with the Senegalese Ministry of Economy, Planning and Cooperation.

The Senegalese President expressed thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister, for their support to the Republic of Senegal, praising the efforts of SFD in implementing development projects and programs inside Senegal.

For his part, the CEO of the Fund confirmed that the support comes as an extension of the development cooperation between the two sides, which has spanned for more than 40 years.

During the meeting, several issues related to development projects financed by SFD in Senegal were discussed, especially since the Fund is the development arm of the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It is worth mentioning that the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to supporting the development sectors in the Republic of Senegal through development projects and programs financed by SFD for more than four decades. In addition to this agreement, SFD has provided 26 development loans to contribute to financing 25 developmental projects and programs with a value of about $384 million, and management of four grants provided by the Kingdom’s government, with a value of more than $19 million in various development sectors to contribute achieving the sustainable development goals.
