Russia Welcomes The Iranian-Saudi Agreement To Resume Diplomatic Relations

The Russian Federation welcomed the agreement reached between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to resume diplomatic relations. According to Iranian media, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed, in a phone call, the most important common issues, especially the four-way meeting to solve problems between Turkey and Syria, and the comprehensive agreement for long-term cooperation developed. The Iranian media added that the Russian Foreign Minister, during the phone call, welcomed the agreement reached between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to resume diplomatic relations. The two ministers discussed developments related to technical cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the latest developments on the Ukrainian scene, in which Abdollahian stressed Iran’s principled view of focusing on a political solution and dialogue.
