Second Saudi International Iron & Steel Conference kicks off next Monday with international, local and Arab participation

The “Second Saudi International Iron & Steel Conference”, organized by the National Iron Industry Committee of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, will kick off next Monday in Riyadh, under the patronage of the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, and the Minister of Investment, Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, and will attract a group of industry leaders, and investors in the sector in Saudi Arabia, the world, and the region making it the largest of its kind in the region.

Ministers of Industry, Mineral Resources, and Investment, along with the President of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, Mr. Ajlan bin Abdulaziz Al-Ajlan will inaugurate the conference sessions, under the theme “Ministerial Team”, during which the ministers will review the vision of their ministries in providing the best forms of support for the Saudi iron and steel industry, and the available options to overcome the challenges, to achieve the ambitions that support efforts to enable the Kingdom to become a major player on the map of the global steel industry.

The first day of the conference concludes with the opening of the accompanying exhibition in which the conference sponsors from various prominent steel industries, representing Saudi, Gulf, and international companies, participate.

Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for the Arab States, Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf will deliver a speech on the second day of the conference, followed by the first working session which will be held under the title: “Deputies of Ministers and Executives”, in which the keynote speakers include Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Eng. Osama Al-Zamil, and the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Eng. Khaled Al-Mudaifer, and two other Arab and international speakers.

This will be followed by a bilateral dialogue session with the Executive Director of the World Steel Association Edwin Basson, entitled “A Closer Look at the Middle East and North Africa”, and the dialogue will be moderated by the Vice-Chairman of the National Committee for the Iron Industry, Mohammed Al-Jabr. Meanwhile, the second session will be held under the title “The Status of the Iron and Steel Market in the Middle East and North Africa”, in which five speakers representing Saudi and Gulf companies will discuss the reality and prospects for the development of this industry in the region.

The third session, entitled: “Game Changers in the Global Iron and Steel Market”, will be held with the participation of five speakers, including representatives from the World Steel Association, the Indian Iron Federation, Germany-based Baosteel Europe, and a Turkish steel company. The fifth speaker is a senior partner of McKinsey Globalism.

The fourth and final session on the second day of the conference will be entitled “Supply Chains, Energy, and Raw Materials”, in which 6 speakers, 3 of whom are Saudis, will speak, including the Undersecretary for Logistics Services at the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, Louay Mashabi, the CEO of the Saudi Export Development Authority Abdul Rahman Al-Thukair, in addition to three CEOs of Gulf and international steel companies.

The second day of the conference will be concluded with a speech by the Chairman of the National Iron Committee, Chairman of the Conference, Eng. Rayed Al-Ajaji, where he will highlight the most prominent discussions of the working sessions and dialogues on that day.

On the third and final day of the conference, the CEO of the NEOM project, Eng. Nadhmi Al-Nasr, will deliver a speech, followed by a speech by the Chairman of the National Iron Committee, the President of the Conference, Eng. Rayed Al-Ajaji, who will deliver the opening speech of the conference on its closing day.

On the same day, a dialogue session entitled “Modern Economic Cities” will be held, followed by a discussion session entitled: “Industry, Investment, and Innovation”, in which four speakers representing Saudi, Gulf, and international entities will participate. This will be followed by a session themed “Iron Pipes Connecting the Saudi Arabia”, with the participation of five speakers representing Saudi and international steel-producing companies.

The conference will conclude its activities with a dialogue session titled “Lessons Learned and Next Steps”, in which the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, and a group of Saudi and international speakers will participate as keynote speakers, and will be moderated by the Chairman of the National Iron Committee, Rayed Al-Ajaji, who will deliver the closing speech of the conference where he will highlight the most prominent recommendations and results of the Second International Iron and Steel Conference.
