Somalia Swears in MPs and Senators

Mogadishu — Representatives of the new Somali parliament were sworn in to officially start their duties, during a ceremony in the capital, Mogadishu.

290 out of 329 deputies took part in the swearing-in of the parliament in its two chambers (the people 275 deputies and the Senate 54).

The Somali News Agency stated that, according to the country’s constitution, the new deputies will elect in the first session one of the oldest members to take over the session to elect the speaker and his two deputies..
