Syrian-Chinese talks on cooperation in water resources field

Syria and China discussed a number of issues related to the work of Water Resources Ministry and the water sector in general.

That came during a meeting held at the ministry’s headquarters in Damascus between Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Raad, and Ambassador of China in Damascus, Shi Hongwei and the accompanying delegation.

The minister underlined the importance of irrigation, drinking water and sanitation sectors on the social, economic and environmental levels.

Raad pointed out consequences of terrorist war on these sectors, especially after the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrians, which negatively affected living and services.

In turn, the Chinese Ambassador stressed his country’s firm policy of rejecting aggression against peoples in general and against Syria in particular, reiterating his country’s call to lift the coercive measures imposed on Syria.

He highlighted the Chinese Government interest in supporting the water resources sector due to its great importance in providing services to citizens and supporting food security and social stability
