The Foreign Minister discusses in Germany the conditions of Iraqi refugees

Baghdad The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed with the Minister of State in the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Bernd Croeser, addressing the conditions of Iraqis whose asylum applications were rejected.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: “Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with the Minister of State in the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Bernd Croeser, on the sidelines of the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad al -Sudani to Berlin, at the head of a high-level delegation.”

It added: “The two sides discussed measures to address the conditions of Iraqis whose asylum applications are rejected at the bilateral level with Germany, as well as at the level of other European Union countries.”

The minister stressed, according to the statement, “the need to support voluntary return and reintegration programs and provide job opportunities for voluntary returnees from refugees to Iraq,” noting “the efforts of the Iraqi government in this context at the internal level, by creating appropriate conditions to encourage the voluntary return of Iraqi refugees who do not have legal stable status in the countries in which they are located.

He stressed that “the Iraqi government pays great attention to this file, and that the situation of Iraqi refugees comes at the forefront of its agenda, given the priority that the German authorities give to the file of immigration and asylum, especially after the Ukrainian refugee crisis.”
