The President of the Republic stresses that it is not permissible for any refugee to remain in the camps

Baghdad, The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed that it is not permissible for any refugee to remain in the camps.

A presidential statement stated: “The President met today with the delegation of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, and during the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faeq Jabro, they discussed the conditions of the displaced throughout the country and the most important problems that impede their return to their cities and homes and the implementation of the Sinjar Agreement.”

The President of the Republic stressed the need to start work and focus efforts on implementation in order to return all the displaced people to their cities and homes in a way that secures a decent, free, safe and stable life, and stressed that no refugee should remain in the camps.

The President stressed the need to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the relevant Iraqi institutions, including the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, and the United Nations Human Settlements Program at all levels, expressing his readiness to help in this regard to overcome all obstacles, stressing that everyone should support these efforts.

The President of the Republic listened to a briefing given by members of the delegation about the work of the United Nations Human Settlements Program in Iraq, and the plans developed with the Iraqi side to resolve the problems facing the displaced and ensure their return to their homes.
