(UPDATE) RAHI ARRIVES IN SOUTHERN TOWN OF TYRE, KICKS OFF SOUTH LEBANON VISIT


Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rahi, and the accompanying delegation, on Thursday began South Lebanon visit, where they had been first to the Maronite Cathedral of Our Lady of the Seas in the southern town of Tyre, where they held a prayer in the church.

Then, Patriarch Rahi moved to the Cathedral’s hall, where he was received by a great number of prominent figures and dignitaries, including MPs: Ali Khreis, Michel Moussa, Inaya Ezzedine, Hassan Ezzedine, Hussein Jachi, as well as former MP Emile Rahme, and Mufti of Tyre and Jabal Amel, Judge Sheikh Hassan Abdullah, in addition to muslim and christian spiritual leaders and local dignitaries.

Also among those attending had been the UNIFL Western Sector Commander, General Joe Ani Brava, a UNIFIL delegation, representatives of the Lebanese security and military forces, Mayor of Tyre, Mohammad Jaffal, the head of the Union of Municipalities of the District of Tyre, Engineer Hassan Dabouq, the head of the Catholic Information Center, Father Abdo Ab
u Kasem, delegations from the Christian churches in the south, Amal Movement Official in Jabal Amel, engineer Ali Ismail, a delegation from the regional command, and a delegation from Hezbollah.
