Wide-Ranging Services Provided to Persons with Disabilities at the Grand Mosque

Makkah, The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques exerts great efforts to care for people with disabilities and serve them in the best possible way at the Grand Mosque, so they can carry out their rituals with ease and comfort.

The authority designates areas for them to perform prayers, near the doors of the Grand Mosque to facilitate their entry and exit; these areas have Zamzam water bottles, copies of the holy Qur’an in Braille, various other books, tayammum pads (dry ritual purification), white canes for the blind, and sign language interpreters qualified to translate sermons and religious lessons.

It also provides wheelchairs and electric carts at various locations in and around the Grand Mosque, to ensure that persons with disabilities enjoy the utmost comfort.
