Governor of Najran Region Receives Indonesia’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

Najran– Prince Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Governor of Najran Region, received here today the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdulaziz Ahmed.

During the meeting, they discussed issues of common interest and strengthening of distinguished relations between the two countries.

UN Special Envoy to Yemen Announces Extension of Yemeni Truce for Another Two Months

New York, Aug. 02, 2022, SPA — The UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, announced that the two sides in Yemen agreed to extend the truce with the same terms for another two months, from August 02, 2022, to October 02, 2022.

In a press statement late Tuesday, Grundberg said that this extension of the truce includes a commitment by the Yemeni parties to intensify negotiations to reach an expanded truce agreement as soon as possible, expressing his gratitude for their approval of this extension of the truce and for their continuing constructive engagement with his office in implementing the truce and seeking to expand it.

He further said: to consolidate the opportunity that the truce offers towards sustainable peace, I will also intensify my efforts with the parties to reach an extended truce agreement as soon as possible.

He stressed that this expanded truce proposal will provide the opportunity to negotiate a comprehensive ceasefire, make progress on humanitarian and economic issues and prepare for the resumption of the Yemeni-led political process under the auspices of the United Nations to reach a sustainable and just peace.

Grundberg expressed his gratitude for the concerted support provided by the international community, in particular the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman, and the members of the UN Security Council.

New Mali’s Permanent Representative to OIC Presents Credentials

Jeddah– The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha received here today Ambassador of the Republic of Mali to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Aboubakar Gouraud, who presented his credentials as a permanent representative of his country to OIC.

During the meeting, they asserted the importance of the OIC-Malian relations, and the Secretary-General reiterated the OIC’s support for Mali.

Qatar Welcomes Announcement of Truce Extension in Yemen

Doha– The State of Qatar welcomed the United Nations announcement of a truce extension in Yemen for another two months.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar’s hope that the truce extension would pave the way for an expanded truce agreement and the resumption of the political process, in order to reach a just and sustainable peace that fulfills the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security and development.

It expressed the State of Qatar’s appreciation for the continuous efforts exerted by the United Nations to achieve sustainable peace in Yemen. It also renewed its position calling for resolving the Yemeni crisis based on the GCC Initiative and relevant Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution No. 2216.

Yemeni Government Welcomes Announcement by UN Envoy to Extend Truce for Another Two Months

Aden, Aug 3, 2022, SPA — The Yemeni government welcomed the announcement by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg to extend the truce for two additional months, according to the previous clauses, until October 02, 2022, which came after consultation with and approval of the government.

The official Yemeni News Agency (Saba) said that the Yemeni government reiterates that the main goal of the truce is to stop the bleeding of Yemeni blood due to the war ignited by the terrorist Houthi militia, and to facilitate the free movement of civilians and goods, humanitarian and commercial services throughout Yemen, which was achieved by facilitating traveling through Sanaa airport and entering oil derivatives through the ports of Hodeida, citing that the siege is still imposed on the city of Taiz.

The Yemeni government also stressed the need to fully implement the terms of the truce, stop all Houthi violations, accomplish what has not been accomplished during the past period, begin immediately to lift the barbaric siege on the city of Taiz, and ensure that the revenues of Hodeida ports are used to pay the salaries of civil servants and retirees in the areas that are still under the control of Houthi militia.

In this regard, the Yemeni government affirmed its full support for the efforts of the United Nations and its Special Envoy on the path to achieving a comprehensive and just peace in accordance in terms of the three agreed references, foremost among which is International Resolution 2216.

Ambassador Al-Wasel Presents his Credentials as Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York

New York, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohamed Al-Wasel has presented his credentials as permanent representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in New York to the Secretary General of the United Nations organization Antonio Guterres.

During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Wasel conveyed the greetings of the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Secretary General of the United Nations, who wished him every success during his second term of office.

During the meeting, aspects of close cooperation and partnership binding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Nations and ways of enhancing work between them in a way that serves the joint interests were reviewed.

Ambassador Dr. Al-Wasel has served as ambassador and permanent representative of his country to the United Nations organization in Geneva since 2016.

UK Welcomes Extension of Truce in Yemen

London, Aug. 02, 2022, SPA – The United Kingdom has welcomed the two-month extension of the truce in Yemen according to the same conditions previously agreed upon.

In a press statement, the Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said that “this is a significant achievement and further step towards lasting peace in Yemen”.

More than 312,000 pilgrims arrive in Madinah

Madinah– As many as 10,095 pilgrims arrived in Madinah yesterday, raising the total number of pilgrims who arrived in Madinah after Hajj to 312,783 pilgrims.

The statistics of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on the movement of receiving and leaving pilgrims in Madinah indicated that the total number of pilgrims who have left Madinah for their home countries during the post-Hajj season through all ports reached 248,302, while the number of pilgrims remaining in Madinah stood at 64,481 pilgrims yesterday evening.

Tajik Prime Minister Receives GCC Secretary General

Dushanbe, August 3, 2022, SPA – Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda today in Dushanbe City received Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf who is currently on a tour for republics of Central Asia.

Talks during the meeting went over several international and regional issues and efforts exerted to address them, fields of joint cooperation, and the multiple and diversified opportunities to enhance cooperation in a way that realizes joint benefits and interests.

The meeting also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding and holding an official discussions session to boost cooperation between GCC countries and the Republic of Tajikistan in a way that serves joint interests and cooperation fields.

Saudi Ambassador to USA Participates in Opening of Special Olympics Unified Cup-Detroit 2022

Washington, August 3, 2022, SPA — Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Ambassador to the USA and member of the International Olympic Committee, has participated in the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics Unified Cup-Detroit 2022, which is held in Detroit City, Michigan, where the Saudi team for the unified football participates for the first time along with 22 teams side by side with other three Arab teams representing the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Morocco.

Princess Reema, in a speech addressing the Saudi team, praised their good performance through this tournament, where the Saudi team won its first match against the Singaporean team, expressing her pride for this win and wishing the Saudi team luck to reach advanced stages in the tournament.

The Saudi team plays in the second group that also includes the national teams of Paraguay, Romania and Singapore.

The ambassador was joined by member of the board of directors of the Saudi Special Olympics Lina Al Maina and Advisor to the Saudi Special Olympics Rana Taibah.

7th Arab Conference of Arab Directors of Nationality and Civil Affairs Departments Kicks off in Tunisia

Tunis– The works of the 7th Arab Conference of Directors of Nationality and Civil Affairs Departments kicked off here today with participation of representatives of the ministries of interior in the Arab countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab League, the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS).

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the meeting was led by Director General of Passports Lieutenant-General Suleiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahya.

The conference discussed a number of topics on its agenda.

Bahrain Indices End Trading Lower

Manama– Bahrain General Index ended trading today lower at the level of 1,896.43, losing 3.81 points. The Bahrain Islamic Index closed at 662.07, down by 0.38 points.

The volume of traded shares amounted to 1,921,384, with a total value of 573,174 Bahraini dinars, through 76 deals.
