Kyrgyz President Receives GCC Secretary General

Bishkek, August 3, 2022, SPA – Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov today received Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf in Kyrgyz Capital City Bishkek, as part of Dr. Al-Hajraf’s tour to republics of the Central Asia region.

During the reception, Dr. Al-Hajraf and President Japarov highlighted the importance of enhancing close partnership between GCC and Kyrgyzstan at all levels, discussed the latest developments and exchanged views on the regional and international updates. They also went over aspects of relations and opportunities to enhance cooperation in various vital sectors and the importance of enhancing relations in a way that serves joint interests of the two sides.

Later on, the GCC secretary general and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev signed a joint memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation relations between GCC countries and Kyrgyzstan in all fields.

The two sides also held a bilateral official discussions session that reviewed several international and regional issues and efforts exerted to address them, fields of joint cooperation and the multiple and miscellaneous opportunities to enhance cooperation between the two sides.

Secretary-General of Etidal Receives Dutch Special Envoy for Religion and Belief

Riyadh– Secretary-General of the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) Dr. Mansour Al-Shammari received here today Dutch Special Envoy for Religion and Belief Ambassador Jos Douma, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Janet Alberda and the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, they discussed means of cooperation in combating extremist ideology.

The delegation members were briefed on Etidal’s work strategies, as they toured the command and control department, during which they learned about the monitoring and analysis mechanism, the techniques used, and the models that are being built and developed within the center.

Arab League Welcomes Renewal of Truce in Yemen

Cairo, August 3, 2022, SPA – The Arab League has welcomed a decision to extend the truce in Yemen for two more months.

Spokesperson for the Arab League Secretary General Jamal Rushdi, in a statement today, noted that extending the truce is a good news for millions of Yemenis, highlighting the importance of all parties to commit to the truce items in the upcoming stage and the significance of enhancing the work of the Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations to Yemen in reaching an expanded and sustainable truce agreement.

The spokesperson stressed that the continuity of the truce provides the required momentum for the political process and for proceeding with negotiations as a sole path to address the Yemeni crisis.

KSrelief Distributes Over 95 Tons of Food Baskets in Marib Governorate, Yemen

Marib, Yemen– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed yesterday 95 tons and 551 kilograms of food baskets to the needy families in Marib Governorate, Yemen, benefiting 5,358 people.

This comes within the project to support food security for the year 2022, being implemented by the KSrelief in Yemen, and aims to distribute more than 192,000 food baskets weighing more than 20,000 tons to the needy and affected families in 15 Yemeni governorates.

EU Welcomes Renewal of Truce in Yemen

Brussels, August 3, 2022, SPA – The European Union (EU) has welcomed a decision to extend the truce in Yemen for two more months.

Lead spokesperson for the external affairs of the EU Peter Stano, in a statement, noted that the truce, which was brokered by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, has tangible benefits for the Yemeni people, highlighting the importance of opening border crossings in Taiz and other governorates, which constitutes a priority.

The EU noted that it will continue working with all Yemeni parties, with full support of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, to reach a political settlement to the crisis in Yemen.

SOPC Submits an Official Letter of Interest to the OCA to Host the 2029 Asian Winter Games at TROJENA, NEOM

Riyadh– The Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee has officially submitted a letter of interest to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) aiming to host the 10th Asian Winter Games (AWG) in TROJENA, NEOM’s global destination for mountain tourism. The letter included a brief of the ambitious Kingdom’s Vision 2030 which will support TROJENA to host one of the most significant sporting events in Asia, where more than 32 Asian countries are expected to participate, once the bid is validated, for the first time ever in West Asia.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, President of SOPC, said: “The generous, unprecedented and visionary support by our wise leadership has attracted the most exciting sporting events to the heart of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” Prince Abdulaziz added: “The request to host the AWG affirms the geographical, environmental diversity and natural wealth that the Kingdom enjoys and is willing to share with our wider Asian Olympic family. We are very excited to welcome all Winter Sports enthusiasts in 2029, aiming to celebrate an incomparable experience in TROJENA.”

TROJENA is part of NEOM’s strategy to contribute to supporting and developing the tourism sector in the region. Currently taking shape in the mountains of northwest Saudi Arabia, TROJENA will feature unique and innovative architecture in a place where the captivating landscapes will coexist in harmony with the tourist sites. It will, offer an experience unlike anything else in the world, including the GCC region’s first outdoor skiing.

The Executive Office of the Olympic Council of Asia, meanwhile, will meet in Cambodia on October before the convening of the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, which is considered the supreme body for approving decisions to grant hosting rights for the AWG.

Jordan welcomes renewal of Yemen’s truce

Amman– Jordan on Wednesday welcomed an agreement between Yemeni parties to extend a four-month-old truce for two more months, and reaffirmed its support for all efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in this Arab country, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.

Haitham Abu Al-Foul, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, said in a statement that Jordan supports efforts to end the Yemeni crisis through a political solution based on the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue, the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216.

The spokesman emphasized that any solution must bring security and stability to Yemen, ensure its unity and territorial integrity, alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, and fulfill their aspirations for peace and security.

Abu Al-Foul added that the Kingdom recognizes the efforts of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen and reaffirms its continued support for the Amman-based UN mission in Yemen.

KSrelief Continues Distributing 1,137 Food Baskets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan

Islamabad– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) continued distributing food baskets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. As many as 1,137 food baskets weighing 108 tons were distributed to the needy people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan, benefiting 7,959 people.

This comes within the project to support food security, being implemented by the KSrelief in Pakistan, to alleviate the suffering of the needy and the affected people.

Arab Parliament welcomes renewal of Yemen’s truce

Cairo– Arab Parliament has welcomed an agreement between Yemeni parties to extend the truce for two more months.

The Arab Parliament affirmed, in a statement today, that the agreement will contribute to advancing efforts to reach a comprehensive settlement of the Yemeni crisis, and supports initiatives for a political solution, based on the relevant Security Council resolutions, the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms and the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, in a manner that preserves Yemen’s unity and independence and preserves the capabilities of the Yemeni people and their aspirations for security, stability and prosperity.

The Arab Parliament valued the efforts of the Arab coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and all parties in extending the truce, to preserve the security and stability of the region.

Qatar Stock Exchange Ends Trading Higher

Doha– The general index of the Qatar Stock Exchange ended trading higher today, gaining 83.88 points, or 0.63%, to reach 13,386.21 points.

During today’s session, 318,164,955 shares were traded, with a value of QAR 850,021,646,602, through 22,073 deals in all sectors.

The shares of 33 companies rose, while the prices of 10 other companies declined, while two companies maintained their previous closing price.

GCC Secretary General Stresses Importance of Enhancing Cooperation with Turkmenistan to Serve Joint Interests

Ashgabat, August 3, 2022, SPA – Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf has stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with Turkmenistan to serve joint interests.

Dr. Al-Hajraf’s remarks came after signing a memorandum of understanding with Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, which includes enhancing cooperation fields between the two sides at various levels, mainly economy, commercial exchange, energy, water and food security, realizing stability and supporting the sustainable development efforts.

Dr. Al-Hajraf and Meredov also held an official discussions session today that reviewed several international and regional issues and efforts aimed at addressing them, fields of joint cooperation, and the multiple and diversified opportunities to enhance cooperation in a way that realizes joint benefits and interests.

Saudi Stock Exchange Main Index Ends Trading Lower at 12,291.93 Points

Riyadh– Saudi Stock Exchange’s main index ended trading lower here today, losing 18.70 points to close at 12,291.93 points.

The total value of the trading reported was SAR 7.7 billion, while the toll of shares traded was 200 million, divided into over 437,000 deals.

The Saudi Parallel Market Index (NOMU) ended the day gaining 211.01 points, to close at 21,758.17 points, with a valuation of SAR 50 million and an overall tally of more than 745,000 stocks traded and divided into as many as 2,853 deals.
