Muslim World League Welcomes Extension of Yemeni Truce, and Praises Saudi Arabia Efforts

Makkah– The Muslim World League (MWL) welcomed the announcement to extend the truce in Yemen for two additional months.

Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing the Kingdom’s great pivotal role in consolidating security and stability in the region and the world, in line with the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced in March 2021 to end the crisis in Yemen and reach a comprehensive political solution.

Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa also valued the efforts of UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg in promoting adherence to the truce.

Riyadh– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the welcoming of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to extend the truce in the brotherly Republic of Yemen for an additional two months, and stresses the importance of opening humanitarian crossings in Taizz.

The Kingdom appreciates the efforts of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Mr. Hans Grundberg, in strengthening commitment to the truce sponsored by the United Nations, in line with the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced in March 2021 to end the crisis in Yemen and reach a comprehensive political solution.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the Kingdom’s firm and supportive position on everything that guarantees the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen and achieves the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people.

The Ministry stressed that the truce aims primarily to reach a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen and start the political process between the Yemeni government and the Houthis. It also stresses the importance of the Houthis’ commitment to the terms of the current truce and the speedy opening of crossings in Taizz to alleviate human suffering in it, and deposit revenues in the Central Bank of Yemen to pay the salaries of the civilians.

Aramco and Sinopec Sign MoU to Collaborate on Projects in Saudi Arabia

Dhahran– Saudi Arabian Oil Company (“Aramco”) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) covering multiple areas of potential collaboration between the parties in Saudi Arabia.

The MoU outlines pathways for strategic cooperation between Aramco and Sinopec and supports the long-term relationship between the two companies and their existing joint ventures in China and in the Kingdom.

Mohammed Y. Al-Qahtani, Aramco Senior Vice President of Downstream, said: “We are delighted to be able to extend our relationship with Sinopec and leverage our mutual strength and reach while creating a path to bring our long-standing cooperation in China to our facilities in Saudi Arabia. This latest collaboration will help to further advance our strategic relationship with Sinopec into key areas of mutual benefit within the Kingdom.”

Yu Baocai, President of Sinopec Corp., said: “Aramco is a very important partner of Sinopec. The two companies have yielded fruitful collaborations and developed deep friendship over the years. The signing of the MOU introduces a new chapter of our partnership in the Kingdom. The two companies will join hands in renewing the vitality and scoring new progress of the Belt and Road Initiative and Vision 2030.”

The wide-ranging areas of potential cooperation include; assessing refining and petrochemical integration opportunities; engineering, procurement and construction; oilfield services, upstream and downstream technologies as well as collaboration across carbon capture and hydrogen processes.

The companies will also discuss the opportunities for the establishment of a local manufacturing hub in King Salman Energy Park.

This latest collaboration builds on existing joint ventures between the two companies, including Fujian Refining and Petrochemical Company (FREP) and Sinopec Senmei (Fujian) Petroleum Company (SSPC) in China, and Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Company (YASREF) in Saudi Arabia.

KSrelief Distributes Over 60 Tons of Food Baskets in Abyan Governorate, Yemen

Abyan, Yemen– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed on Monday 60 tons and 455 kilograms of food baskets to the needy families in Abyan Governorate, Yemen, benefiting 3,390 people.

This comes within the project to support food security for the year 2022, being implemented by the KSrelief in Yemen, and aims to distribute more than 192,000 food baskets weighing more than 20,000 tons to the needy and affected families in 15 Yemeni governorates.
