Al-Shennawi: The Saudi-Iranian Agreement Is A Breach Of The US Influence And A Fatal Blow To Attempts To Ignite The Region

The managing editor of the Middle East News Agency, an expert in regional affairs, Mahmoud Al-Shennawi, considered the Saudi-Iranian agreement a breach of the American influence system and a fatal blow to attempts to ignite the region. He told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that “the agreement directed a fatal blow to all attempts to ignite the region by playing on sectarian lines.” Al-Shennawi added: The historic agreement is an unprecedented breach of the system of absolute American influence on the capabilities of the region, especially after it took place under Chinese sponsorship, which sends many messages and enhances the large Chinese presence, and re-establishes the equation of the relative weights of forces. He stressed that “the commitment of the two parties to the agreement is the only guarantee for achieving security and political stability in all concerned countries, especially Iraq,” indicating that “explosive files can be dismantled if Tehran and Riyadh adhere to the terms of the agreement.” Al-Shennawi stressed that “this agreement disturbed several countries, led by Israel, which considered it an indication of the failure of Netanyahu’s foreign policy, since the Iranian-Saudi consensus will contribute to the failure of many plans aimed at igniting the situation in the interlocking files between Tehran and Riyadh. He expressed his belief that Israel and its agents will have vigorous attempts to abort this agreement, through arms spread in the seam areas, not to mention the armed groups of various names that work in favor of igniting the situation and directly harm the stability of the region. It is worth mention that last Friday, Iran and Saudi Arabia, with Chinese mediation, signed an agreement on resuming diplomatic relations. The embassies of the two countries are scheduled to open within two months. A joint statement was signed after several days of talks between the head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and his Saudi counterpart in Beijing.
