An Iranian Drone Shot Down By US Fire Near Erbil

Baghdad The US Central Command announced that it had shot down an Iranian drone that was heading to Erbil, which seemed to pose a threat to US forces in the region.

It indicated in a statement, according to Rudaw Network, that the US forces shot down this afternoon an Iranian unmanned aircraft (Muhajir-6) that was heading in the direction of Erbil, as it appeared to pose a threat to the US Central Command forces in the region.

It added that it is assessing the situation, in support of partner forces in Iraq.

The US State Department had strongly condemned the Iranian attacks with ballistic missiles and drones against the Kurdistan region, stressing that the United States stands with the people and government of Iraq in the face of these attacks.

The British government also expressed its support for the Kurdistan Regional Government, calling on Iran to stop its “indiscriminate bombing” of Kurdish towns.
