Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit welcomed the signing of the “Jeddah Declaration” by the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), to commit to protecting civilians in Sudan and opening humanitarian corridors for unimpeded access to aid.
In a statement issued today, Aboul Gheit stressed the necessity of fully respecting the pledges contained in the declaration to spare Sudanese bloodshed and to pave the way for a complete and sustainable ceasefire.
The Secretary-General praised the diplomatic efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States in reaching this declaration, as well as the Kingdom’s hosting of these talks
