More than 74 Countries Import Dates from Saudi Arabia’s Buraidah Festival

Buraidah, Saudi Arabia, August 25, 2022 SPA — Saudi Arabia’s Buraidah exports date products to more than 74 countries around the world. This boosts the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s exports of dates, which amounted to SAR 1.215 billion in 2021, with an increase of 31% compared to 2020.

Al-Qassim region produces more than 300,000 tons of dates annually. Local farmers aim to increase production and contribute to achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 through boosting non-oil revenues.

Buraidah Date Festival – organized by the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Al-Qassim – is considered the biggest marketing hubs in the world, where more than 1,000 vehicles loaded with tons of dates arrive at the venue and are received by consumers and investors, where plenty of dates are sent to the 15,000-square-meter export yard for packing and export to cities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and outside to Gulf and Arab countries and the two Americas, Europe and East Asia.

International Companies to Participate in Accompanying Exhibition of Arab Radio and TV Festival

Riyadh– The Organizing Committee of the Arab Radio and TV Festival has announced that it received a number of requests from major media companies to participate in the accompanying exhibition of the Arab Radio and TV Festival.

The Arab Radio and TV Festival will be hosted in Riyadh from 7 to 10 November, 2022, with the participation of more than 1,000 media professionals from around the world, and international media organizations from the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain.

Egypt’s Writers Union Holds Symposium on Saudi Arabia’s Cultural and Literary Renaissance

Cairo, Aug. 21, 2022, SPA — Egypt’s Writers Union (EWU) has held a symposium under the theme “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Arab Creativity” in the attendance of Saudi Cultural Attache in Egypt Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Firaih and the participation of a number of Egyptian, Saudi and Arab writers, it was reported today.

The participants reviewed the cultural, arts and literary renaissance witnessed by Saudi Arabia, casting light on the most prominent works of Saudi intellectuals, writers and thinkers, wishing Saudi culture steady progress and prosperity.

During the event, which took place yesterday, they lauded the Saudi Egyptian ties binding the two countries and peoples, highlighting the Kingdom’s supportive stance for Egypt over eras and confirming the depth of Saudi Egyptian relations in all fields, particularly the cultural domain.

Hercules-2″ Joint Military Training Kicks off with Saudi Arabia’s Participation

Cairo– The Hercules-2 joint military training started, at Mohamed Naguib Military Base, Egypt, with the participation of units of the Royal Saudi Land Forces, the USA, Greece, Cyprus, the UAE and Jordan.

The military spokesman for the Egyptian Armed Forces, Colonel Gharib Abdelhafeez, explained, in a statement today, that the training, which lasts for several days, included procedures for the integration and acquaintance of the participating forces to unifying concepts, an exhibition of weapons and equipment used in training, as well as lectures in the fields of cybersecurity and international humanitarian law.

Abdelhafeez indicated that the training comes as a continuation of the development and strengthening of military relations between Egypt and brotherly and friendly countries, with the aim of developing and consolidating the foundations of military cooperation.

Minister of Culture of Thailand Confirms his Country’s Keenness on Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation with Saudi Arabia in Cultural and Knowlege Fields

Minister of Culture of the Kingdom of Thailand Itthiphol Khunpluem met here today with visiting Undersecretary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance for Islamic Affairs Sheikh Awwad bin Sebti Al-Enezy in the attendance of the Saudi Charge de Affaires in Thailand Isam bin Saleh Al-Jitaili and a number of Thai officials.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of mutual concern to the two friendly countries, particularly those related to cultural centers and ways to support them.

For his part, the Thai minister confirmed his country’s keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the cultural and knowledge fields and spreading joint values and benefiting from the Saudi ministry of Islamic Affairs experience in thefield of disseminating the values of tolerance in a way that serves Thai Muslims.

Ukrainian Usyk, British Joshua Compete for World Heavyweight Boxing Title in Jeddah

Jeddah will host later today (Saturday) “Rage on the Red Sea”: World Heavyweight Championship’s rematch, which will bring together the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and the British Anthony Joshua at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

The event, which includes 10 other fights, will start at 6 pm today and the main fight will start at 1 am.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s hosting of this fight comes as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Sports and the Saudi Boxing Federation, to achieve the strategic goals aimed at continuing the Kingdom to host the most important and largest international sporting events, as a global destination to host such major global competitions, in addition to the diversity of hosting events and programs, in light of the unprecedented support by the Kingdom’s leadership so as to contribute to the opening of new horizons for Saudi sports and athletes.

Today will witness the establishment of several boxing fights that precede the big event, starting from 06:00 pm, as a group of world middleweight boxers will participate, led by the British professional boxer Callum Smith, and the Swedish lightweight world champion Badou Jack, along with the British boxer Ramla Ali, and the Saudi boxer Ziyad Al-Mayouf.

It is worth mentioning that the Red Sea fight is the second international fight hosted by the Kingdom after the great success that was achieved in the fight that was held in Ad Diriyah Boxing Arena in December 2019 and was won by the British boxer Anthony Joshua during which he was crowned the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship, after defeating his Mexican professional boxer, Andy Ruiz Jr., by total points, after the end of the last round.

Saudi Arabia Witnesses Launch of Strategic Partnership with Google for Startups to Support and Empower 100 Technology Startups

Riyadh– It was announced in Riyadh yesterday evening, the launch of a strategic partnership with (Google for Startups) to support and empower more than 100 emerging technology companies around the world annually, in cooperation with (The Garage Disrupt), which is the leading technology destination in the Kingdom since this partnership will ensure that The Garage and its startups join a network of the best startup accelerators programs in Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia.

The partnership with (Google for Startups), which was announced during the fourth edition of Al Garage event that was held in Riyadh Wednesday, with the attendance of more than 300 people interested in the entrepreneurship sector, aims to implement 4 business accelerators annually to enable 100 digital and technology startups and attract them to open their headquarters in the Kingdom.

This comes in accordance with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to develop the digital economy, and this partnership also comes to enhance the role of “The Garage”, which it started in developing and empowering entrepreneurs and emerging companies in the technical and digital sectors since its launch at the (LEAP2022) conference last February.

On the occasion, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha stressed that this partnership with Google for Startups is an additional confirmation of the Kingdom’s position as a regional hub for technology and innovation, as it is the largest technology market in the region with a volume exceeding $40 billion, and a pivotal center for attracting talent and digital innovation. The partnership between The Garage and (Google for Startups) is part of the Kingdom’s efforts to empower male and female entrepreneurs to continue regional leadership through innovative digital solutions and applications.

The “Garage” project is the fruit of cooperation between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, and the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones.

The Garage project works as a business model that combines business incubators and accelerators with everything that technology companies need for success and growth, as it includes three main elements: (The Garage Disrupt), which is a monthly event that brings emerging technology companies together with investors and in the presence of government and private sectors, and (Garage Plus), which is considered a global business accelerator, and the “Garage” headquarters, which provides male and female entrepreneurs with all the tools necessary for the success of their projects.

The partnership between “Garage” and (Google for Startups) focuses on the Garage’s business accelerator program known as (Garage Plus) as the Garage team aspires, through this partnership to build an accelerator program that competes with global accelerators, which is provided by (Google for Startups) by providing the Garage team with a huge base of science, knowledge and best practices that it has reached through its previous programs and cooperation with the best business accelerators programs around the world.

Ambassador of Tajikistan Visits Buraidah Date Festival

Buraidah– The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Akram Karimi, praised the Buraidah Date Festival, which is witnessing an abundance and diversity of dates and an ideal economic movement that reflects distinction and uniqueness of dates in the Kingdom.

During his visit today, the Tajik ambassador was briefed on the market where he watched closely the economic market movement and auctions to sell dates. He also met with farmers and brokers, noting that the festival is receiving the attention of international organizations, such as UNESCO, and is a cultural event and a high-end model of Saudi culture.

Ministry of Islamic Affairs Continues Organizing Final Qualifications for Grand Competition for Memorizing Holy Quran in Thailand

Riyadh– The final qualifications for the grand competition for the memorization of the Holy Quran continued today in the Thai capital Bangkok after its launch yesterday under the organization of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, represented by the office of the Islamic Advisor at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s embassy in Thailand and in cooperation with the office of the Sheikh Al Islam and the Islamic central Council in the presence of the Thai Minister of Culture Itthiphol Kunplome.

The number of contestants in the final qualifications is 31, where three students will be chosen from each category of the competition.

Organizing this competition, implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, embodies efforts being exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve Islam and Muslims and highlights its highest attention to preserve the Holy Quran.

KSrelief’s Masam Project Dismantles 558 Mines in Yemen During One Week

Riyadh– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Project (Masam) for clearing mines in Yemen, dismantled, during the second week of August 2022, a total of 558 mines planted by the Houthi militia across Yemen, including 12 anti-personnel mines, 278 anti-tank mines, 266 unexploded ordnance and 2 explosive devices.

Since the beginning of the project, as many as 353,936 mines have been dismantled.

France to Host 2nd International Festival of Camelids

Riyadh– The Second International Festival of Camelids will be held during the period from 17 to 18 September 2022 in Janvry commune, France.

The event is considered as the first international camel festival in Europe in its second edition, with direct support of the International Camel Organization and the Camel Club, and the Chairman of Board of Directors Fahd bin Hithleen, in cooperation with Janvry commune and the French Federation of Camels.

The festival activities will be launched in the presence of Mayor of Janvry commune Christian Schoettl, who is also President of the French Federation for the Development of Camelids in France and Europe, under the supervision and support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with the participation of representatives of more than 40 countries from around the world.

OIC Offers Condolences to Egypt for Victims of Abu Sefein Church Fire in Egypt

Jeddah– The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, expressed his condolences and sympathy to the people and government of the Arab Republic of Egypt on the Abu Sefein Church fire incident in Imbaba area, Giza Governorate, Egypt.

Taha also offered his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured, stressing the support and solidarity of the OIC with Egypt in this circumstance.
