ECOSEP Conference Starts in Riyadh


Riyadh, The eighth annual Conference of the European College of Sports and Exercise Physicians (ECOSEP) began today, April 25th, in Riyadh and will continue through Saturday.

Organized by the MOVE Center for Comprehensive Sports Medicine, the event is the world’s largest focused on sports medicine, and will take place in Saudi Arabia for the first time. Over 60 speakers from 15 countries are in attendance. It boasts an elite group of leaders, officials, and decision-makers in sports medicine from around the world, as well as legal persons and officials from the public and private sectors in the medical and sports fields in the Kingdom, including current and former Saudi national team players in different sports.

The conference can be attended in person or remotely by those who wish to benefit from the sessions and discussions, and it offers health practitioners the opportunity to obtain 24 continuing medical education (CME) hours accredited by the Commission for Health Specialties. The conference is an exte
nsion of the efforts of the public and private sectors in the Kingdom to develop the sports sector according to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

It also includes several partnerships from various sectors, led by two strategic partnerships from the Ministries of Health and Sports and a number of other sponsors in related fields.

ECOSEP is focused on sports and exercise medicine practitioners within Europe, providing a platform to exchange views, knowledge, experiences, suggestions, questions, research, education, and ideas from the daily clinical practice of sports and exercise doctors.

It also facilitates communication between sports and exercise doctors and all sports and medicine organizations in Europe and internationally for better exchange of views, better understanding and realization of better health services to the public, and the promotion of public health through exercise in prevention and treatment.

HRH The Deputy King meets with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain


Manama, The Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, today met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Alastair Long, at Gubaibiya Palace.

The Deputy King affirmed that longstanding relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom are based on solid foundations and strategic partnerships.

His Royal Highness highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to advance the Bahrain-UK partnership across various sectors to achieve mutual aspirations.

The Deputy King highlighted that joint visits and agreements have consolidated the multisector bilateral collaboration currently in place.

During the meeting, the latest regional and global developments were discussed, in which both parties affirmed that security and peace are the basis of development.

The Minister of Cabinet Affairs, His Excellency Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, attended the meeting.

202 days of war: night raids on Rafah


Gaza – Together – Israeli aircraft continued their bombing of various areas of the Gaza Strip on the 202nd day of the war, leaving dozens of martyrs and wounded.

The Israeli occupation committed six massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, claiming 79 martyrs and 86 injuries during the past 24 hours, bringing the toll of the Israeli aggression to 34,262 martyrs and 77,229 injuries since the seventh of last October.

The occupation aircraft bombed Rafah five times during the night, leaving a number of martyrs and wounded.

The occupation targeted a house for the Al-Jamal family in the Al-Geneina neighborhood, east of Rafah, which led to the death of five displaced people from the Nabhan family and the injury of many others.

The bombing of a house for the Hassanein family in the Yabna camp, south of Rafah, led to the death of two citizens and the injury of many others.

The occupation aircraft targeted agricultural land on Saddam Street in Khirbet Al-Adas, north of Rafah, a house for the Abu Arar family
in the Musabah area, north of Rafah, and land in the Shaboura camp in the center of the city, and a number of wounded were transported.

The occupation targeted the Al-Fokhari area, southeast of Khan Yunis, while a citizen was martyred in the bombing of the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis.

Gaza and the north

An Israeli raid on the Shati camp, west of Gaza, led to the death of Amna Hameed and her two children.

Israeli artillery bombed the neighborhoods of Sheikh Ajlin, Tal Al-Hawa and Al-Zaytoun, south of Gaza City.

The occupation aircraft destroyed a house in the vicinity of the Indonesian Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip.

The middle of the sector

A martyr arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital as a result of an artillery shell falling west of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

An Israeli reconnaissance plane targeted the vicinity of the Old Balad Mosque in the center of Deir al-
Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

One martyr and a number of injuries occurred as the occupation forces targeted a group of citizens east of the Bureij camp with an artillery shell.

The occupation forces continued to destroy citizens’ homes in the village of Al-Mughraqa, south of Gaza City.

Three terrorists and a drug dealer arrested in four governorates

The Counter-Terrorism Service arrested three terrorists and a drug dealer in four governorates.

The CTS stated in a statement, ‘As part of the ongoing coordination and cooperation operations between the heroes of the Counter-Terrorism Service and Asayish Operations Directorate in the Kurdistan Region, one of those wanted on charges of terrorism was arrested in Sulaymaniyah Governorate.’

The CTS added: “With accurate intelligence information, a terrorist was arrested in Abu Ghraib district, west of the capital, Baghdad, in addition to the arrest of a remnant of ISIS gangs in Salah al-Din Governorate.”

It continued: ‘As part of the fight against the drug scourge, a drug dealer was arrested in Basra Governorate.’

Iraq And The Sultanate Of Oman Discuss Cooperation In The Field Of Developing The Communications Sector, Digital Transformation And Electronic Automation

The Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, discussed, today, Thursday, with the Omani Minister of Communications, Saeed bin Hamoud Al-Maawali, cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the field of developing the communications sector, digital transformation, and electronic automation.

A statement by the Ministry of Communications stated that Al-Yasiri met, today, Thursday, in the Omani capital, Muscat, with the Omani Minister of Communications, Saeed bin Hamoud Al-Maawali, and during the meeting, joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries was discussed, especially in the field of developing the communications sector, digital transformation, and electronic automation.

The statement explained that during the meeting, they also discussed developing ways of working and providing capabilities that are being adopted in the field of artificial intelligence and its great importance at the present time in keeping pace with major technological developments in the world.

The statement indic
ated that there was also a discussion of transit projects and the passage of capacity through Iraq via the Arab Gulf states and the role of Omani companies wishing to invest in this field.

Kingdom’s Vision Contributes to Leaps in Digital Economy Growth


Riyadh, The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 has played a critical role in positioning it as a hub for technology and innovation in the region. The leadership has amply supported and empowered the communications and information-technology sector, resulting in significant strides towards digital development.

The Kingdom has made remarkable advancements since the launch of Vision 2030 eight years ago, attaining global leadership positions in digital entrepreneurship, digital infrastructure, digital government, and digital capabilities.

According to a World Economic Forum report, the Kingdom ranked second globally among the Group of Twenty (G20) top economies in digital competitiveness.

A World Bank report said the Kingdom secured third place globally in the digital government services maturity index. The Kingdom is also making significant efforts to become a global leader in supporting the growth of the digital economy.

The digital economy’s contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) has increased from 11% to 15%, a
nd the technology and innovation market has surpassed SAR166 billion, making it the largest in the region.

Furthermore, the Kingdom has achieved a substantial milestone in venture-capital investments, which have increased to SAR5.2 billion.

The Kingdom’s advancements in digital infrastructure reflect its commitment to providing robust digital services to its citizens and businesses.

Fourth-generation services have achieved 99% coverage of the Kingdom’s regions, ensuring widespread access to high-speed internet. The capacity of data centers has reached 204 megawatts, providing ample storage for digital data.

The cloud-computing services market has grown significantly, reaching more than SAR9.8 billion, indicating the Kingdom’s readiness to embrace cloud-based technologies.

The Vision 2030 has contributed significantly to developing digital capabilities in the Kingdom. There are more than 350,000 male and female workers in the technical sector, with a nationalization rate of 64%. Women’s communications and
information technology participation has increased to 35%.

These developments are a testament to the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing its digital economy, building a sustainable future, and creating a prosperous society.

King Sejong Institute Centre headquarters launches pilot courses in Sharjah


Sharjah, The first King Sejong Institute Center (KSIC) headquarters in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has officially opened in the emirate of Sharjah.

In collaboration with the Department of Government Relations (DGR) in Sharjah, the KSIC has been launched in line with the emirate’s ongoing mission to build bridges between cultures and strengthen collaborations with countries worldwide and will begin pilot courses in the first half of this year to be held at the University of Sharjah.

According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), the new regional headquarters is set to commence its operations in the region by initiating pilot courses in the first half of this year, with plans to expand its network, establish local connections, and introduce regular courses in the second half of 2024. Following this initial phase, the trajectory of the institute involves further expansion into the MENA region, adding additional courses, and developing locally tailored content throughout 2025.

The courses will be offer
ed through three comprehensive levels of Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced, enabling students to progressively build their language proficiency and cultural understanding.

The KSIC in Sharjah will also advance the connection between the two nations by training translators to mediate between Korean and Arabic, catering to professionals in the UAE, Korea, and the wider MENA region.

The institute has developed specific textbooks tailored to various industries, including tourism, education, and business. These textbooks are designed to address the unique needs of different demographics, ensuring that students acquire the necessary language skills for their specific career paths.

This strategic approach aims to solidify the institute’s presence, enhance cultural exchanges, and promote the Korean language and culture effectively in the region.

Shaikh Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, the Director of DGR, affirmed the department’s essential role in advancing international cooperation based on cultural exchange an
d communication with countries and cultures worldwide.

He noted that DGR’s efforts align with Sharjah’s vision to nurture communities focused on strengthening bilateral relations and understanding between peoples, bolstering the emirate’s status as a hub for cultures and a platform for comprehensive human dialogue.

Lee Hai-young, the President of the King Sejong Institute Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity to establish the first regional headquarters in Sharjah.

The opening ceremony featured a variety of segments, including performances of traditional Korean music and a K-pop routine which featured performers from both South Korea and residents in the UAE, and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, which shows the cultural exchange between South Korea and the UAE, and marking the official opening of the institute centre.

Jericho – Together – The Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Hussein Hamayel, announced today, Thursday, the formation of an investigation committee to follow up on the merits, conditions and circumstances of the unfortunate fire that occurred this morning, in the factory of the Tlaib Company for Plastic and Household Materials Trading in the agricultural industrial city of Jericho.

The governor confirmed that the committee, which was formed in the presence of the Minister of National Economy, Muhammad Youssef Al-Amour, and the Minister of Industry, Arafat Asfour, began investigation work from the first moment of the fire accident, which resulted in the death of one of the workers and a number of cases of suffocation.
