PM confirms Iraq’s desire to open investment horizons for European companies

Baghdad, Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani expressed Iraq’s desire to open investment horizons for European companies.

A statement by his media office stated that Al-Sudani met at his residence, today, Saturday evening, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, on the sidelines of his participation in the 59th Munich Security Conference.

According to the statement, during the meeting, ways of strengthening cooperation and friendship relations between Iraq, Denmark and other European Union countries were reviewed, and opportunities for joint work in the economic fields and development partnership, as well as facing the challenges caused by climate change and global crises, were also discussed. The importance of cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, extremism and the role played by Iraq to establish security and stability in the region also discussed.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed Iraq’s desire to open investment horizons for European companies, after the economic reforms worked to provide a suitable environment for investment and economic partnerships in the fields of energy and gas exploitation.

Al-Sudani also stressed, according to the statement, the importance of combating financial and administrative corruption as one of the government’s priorities, and Iraq’s desire for the cooperation of friendly countries in the field of recovering Iraqi funds and those wanted by the judiciary and the law.
