The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Qubad Talabani, confirmed that Baghdad is the strategic depth of the Kurdistan region, and the problems must be radically resolved.
The PUK website stated that Talabani met, today, Saturday, in Debashan, a delegation of the Parliamentary Awqaf and Tribal Affairs Committee headed by Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, head of the committee, and they discussed the latest developments on the Iraqi scene and ways to strengthen relations between the region and Baghdad.
Al-Mashhadani said, according to the statement: “During the difficult and sensitive period after the fall of the Baathist regime, President Mam Jalal emerged as an Iraqi political leader, and he was a collector of all spectrums and voices without discrimination.”
For his part, Qubad Talabani stressed the importance of promoting the spirit of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, which is the responsibility of all political parties, noting the need for all of us to work with President Mam Jalal’s approach to solving problems, reconciliation and national unity.
Regarding the relations between Kurdistan region and Baghdad, Talabani said: “We have always emphasized that Baghdad is the strategic depth of the Kurdistan region, and although relations are now positive, we must all work to promote reconciliation and harmony and solve problems between the region and Baghdad in a radical and long-term way.”
