Syria participates in St. Petersburg International Legal Forum

Under the chairmanship of Russian Minister of Justice Konstantin Chuychenko, an open meeting of Ministers of Justice participating in the 11th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, entitled “International cooperation of Ministries of Justice… formulas and new perspectives”, was held, with the participation of Judge Ahmad al-Sayyed, Minister of Justice.

In speech to the meeting, Chuychenko said: “Although the powers of the Ministries of Justice differ from country to country, we are united by a common goal which is to guarantee the rule of law and the unity of the legal space of our countries”.

For his part, Judge Ahmad al-Sayyed said in his speech “ we preserved in Syria on applying the law in accordance with international standards, and despite everything that is happening in this world, we are committed to the rules international law and its humanitarian principles”, noting that Syria has issued a decree granting a general amnesty for terrorist crimes committed by Syrians, except foreigners.

In the same context, participants of the 11th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum discussed the task of building an independent economy in the face of unjust Western sanctions, the legal regulation of online media and the space economy within the framework of the sustainable development and legal support for national security in the face of current threats.

The Ministers of Justice of China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Indonesia, Myanmar, Mali, Central African Republic, Chad, Angola, Namibia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia and South Ossetia also participated in the meeting.
