Baghdad, The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, confirmed today, Saturday, that the success of Gulf 25 will not be attributed to a person, and some are trying to exaggerate the events and give a negative image of a simple matter.

A statement from his office stated, “The Minister of Interior praised the great efforts made by the Governor of Basra, Eng. Asaad Al-Eidani, the Basra Operations Commander, the provincial police commander and all security forces, and the intelligence and service efforts for the success of the inaugural Gulf Championship 25 in Basra Governorate.”

The statement added, “Al-Shammari, and based on the directives of the Prime Minister, Muhammad al-Sudani, conducted a comprehensive analysis of the opening ceremony of the tournament to study the negatives and develop the positives, during a security conference held in the presence of the Governor of Basra and a number of senior leaders and officers, as he confirmed that the Iraqi security forces and government institutions are able to organize various forums and work to provide a safe and appropriate environment for them.

He stressed that “the security services have great experience in dealing with various occasions, in which large numbers of participants attend.”

Al-Shammari pointed out that “there are some things that accompanied the opening of the tournament and were quickly contained by the competent authorities, but there are some people trying to exaggerate the events and give a negative picture of a simple matter that could happen in various countries of the world, especially during forums in which millions of people participate.”

He indicated that “the success of this championship will not be attributed to a person, but rather it will be written to Iraq as a whole, and it will be positive at various levels in terms of investment and openness to neighboring countries and the region, stressing that there are some errors that have been diagnosed and will be finally addressed, and that cooperation and teamwork is the way to success.”
