Turkey earthquake causes cracks on the banks of the Euphrates River in the south of the country

Istanbul Various cracks formed on the banks of the Euphrates River as a result of the two successive earthquakes that struck southern Turkey in early February.

Turkish geography experts mentioned in press interviews that the cracks that appeared on the banks of the Euphrates River in the state of Sanliurfa in the south of the country, some of which extend for several meters and two meters deep, are a natural phenomenon as a result of the movement of rocks from their place and their sliding from their positions to new places.

Earth geography experts confirmed that these faults do not pose a threat to the nature of the earth or to the course of the Euphrates River, noting that a specialized committee of experts will later prepare a study on this phenomenon in all its aspects./ End
