Riyadh, May 9, 2022, SPA — UNESCO Assistant Director General for Education Dr. Stefania Giannini has stressed that Saudi Vision 2030 complies with the trends of the organization that considers transformation as a basis for all its actions in the coming years.
These remarks were made during her participation in the second day of the International Conference and Exhibition for Education (ICEE 2022), which is organized by the Saudi Ministry of Education between May 8 and 11, 2022 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center.
She added that UNESCO wants to contribute to Saudi Vision 2030 and supports its connections with the global agenda, where this conference, with the theme: “Education in Times of Crises: Challenges and Opportunities,” can realize these targets.
The assistant director general spoke about crises that require vision and action.
She also referred to the health crisis and instability it caused in the international education, which led to closing schools and universities across the world, which speeded up the transformation to e-education and remote education, noting that there were around 1.5 billion students who were out of school at the outbreak of the crisis, where there were almost 260 million children around the world without education before the crisis.
She also praised the experience of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in facing the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and shifting to e-education, where it managed to deal with the crisis effectively and succeeded in changing the pandemic crisis into an opportunity to jump to the future.
Dr. Giannini also highlighted the big importance of schools in shaping the personalities of children around the world, which is a role that cannot be replaced as social spaces that grant nutrition and psychological health, among other basic things that children need.
