US Army: Chinese fighter jet intercepts US fighter “unsafely”

Baghdad The US Pacific Command announced that a Chinese fighter intercepted an American fighter with an “unsafe” maneuver in international airspace over the South China Sea.

A statement from the US Pacific Command said, “A Chinese People’s Liberation Army J-11 fighter pilot conducted an unsafe maneuver and intercepted a US Air Force aircraft, which was lawfully conducting routine operations over the South China Sea in the International Air area.

The statement indicated that “the fighter performed an unsafe maneuver, by flying in front of the American fighter at a distance of only 20 feet, which forced the fighter to avoid collision.”
