MSX Drops 26 Points

Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX) general index (30) today lost (26.3) points, comprising a drop by (0.55%) to close at (4725.78) points, compared to the last session, which stood at (4752.04) points.

The trading value today stood at (RO 2,355,751), comprising a surge by (55.1%), compared to the last session, which stood at (RO 1,519,226).

The report released by MSX pointed out that the market value went down by (0.225%) to reach about (RO 23.80) billion.

The report added that the value of shares bought by non-Omani investors reached (RO 841,000), comprising (35.71%). The value of shares sold by non-Omani investors reached (RO 979,000), comprising (41.58%). The net non-Omani investment decreased by (5.87%) to (RO 138,000).

Total Loans, Financing in Oman Exceed RO 29.8 Billion by February 2023

Total loans and financing in commercial banks in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 6.8% to reach RO 29,812.2 million by the end of February 2023 compared to RO 27,902.8 million during the corresponding period in 2022, according to the data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The average interest rate on total credit declined by 1.7% at the end of February 2023.

The private sector’s deposits in commercial banks and Islamic windows in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 0.5% to reach RO 17,512.2 million at the end of February 2022 compared to RO 17,419.5 million during the same period in 2022.

The effective exchange rate index of the Omani Rial rose by 7.1% to 114.5 points compared to 106.9 points at the end of the same period in 2022. The total currency issued by the end of February 2022 declined by 5% to reach RO 1,602 million compared to RO 1,687 million by the end of the corresponding period in 2022.

Meanwhile, the total foreign assets at the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) decreased by 13.2% by the end of February 2023 reaching RO 6,581.7 million compared to RO 7,582.0 million during the same period in 2022.

As far as Broad Money Supply (M2) is concerned, it recorded a rise by 1.8% to reach RO 20,665.6 million compared to the same period in 2022 when the reported M2 stood at RO 20,305.3 million.

On the other hand, Narrow Money Supply (M1) dropped by 0.9% to reach RO 5,721.6 million compared to RO 5,774.6 million during the same period in 2022.

Oman Oil Price Rises 12 Cents

Oman oil price (July Delivery 2023) today reached 78.55 US Dollars, comprising a rise by 12 cents from the price of yesterday (Monday), which was 78.43 US Dollars.

The average price of Oman oil (May Delivery 2023) has stabilized at 78.49 US Dollars per barrel, thus 3.74 US Dollars per barrel lower than April Delivery 2023.

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the importance of speeding up the approval of the budget law.

A presidential statement stated: “The president met today with a delegation from the Parliamentary Rights Bloc, which included members of Parliament, Saud Al-Saadi, Hussein Al-Amiri, and Nadia Al-Aboudi.”

The statement added: “During the meeting, they discussed the general situation in the country, ways to improve services, the importance of exerting maximum efforts to improve the living conditions of citizens, and supporting the government to move forward with the priorities set by the government program, on top of which is the consolidation of security and stability, and speeding up the approval of the budget law.” .

PM: An Upcoming Visit By A Senior Iraqi Delegation To Italy To Discuss Cooperation Mechanisms Between The Two Countries

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, announced upcoming visit of a high-ranking Iraqi delegation to Italy to discuss cooperation mechanisms between the two countries.

The media office of the Prime Minister stated: “al-Sudani met today, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Italy, Guido Crosetto, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Minister of Defense, Thabet Muhammad Al-Abbasi, and a number of military leaders.”

It added, “The meeting dealt with the progress of relations between the two friendly countries, and ways to consolidate joint cooperation in the security fields at various levels.”

During the meeting, the Prime Minister praised Italy’s role in combating terrorism and eliminating ISIS gangs, through the international coalition, and its role in training the Iraqi security forces within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) mission.

He referred to the distinguished relationship between Iraq and Italy, through bilateral cooperation in various fields, stressing Iraq’s desire to work within these tracks, in a way that serves common interests and the security of the region and the world.

The Prime Minister indicated that Iraq and Italy have great and promising opportunities for cooperation in several fields, benefiting from the experience of Italian companies in the field of health, education and industry, optimal use of water, and entering into industrial and economic partnerships.

He confirmed an upcoming visit by a high-ranking Iraqi delegation to Italy to discuss cooperation mechanisms between the two countries.

For his part, the guest minister conveyed the Italian Prime Minister’s greetings to the Prime Minister, and the desire for more mutual cooperation between the two countries, stressing his country’s aspiration for the upcoming visit of the Iraqi delegation and discuss in many cooperation files, which will contribute to the development of relations between the two countries, especially as Italy looks with interest at Iraq and its pivotal role in managing peace files in the region and the world.

The Italian Minister of Defense also confirmed the continuation of security cooperation with Iraq in the field of training the Iraqi security forces.

PM Meets The President Of The Supreme Judicial Council

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, met today, Tuesday, with the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan.

During the meeting, according to a statement by Al-Sudani’s office, they discussed the latest developments in the situation at the national level, the progress of government agencies in implementing the service and reform program, and their efforts in combating corruption, which is reflected in comprehensive development.

UNICEF: We Provided 5 Million Doses Of Vaccines To Iraq And We Continue To Support National Vaccination Campaigns

UNICEF confirmed it provided five million doses of vaccines to the Ministry of Health, and also supported the Ministry in caring for more than 150,000 people who were not previously vaccinated.

The representative of the UNICEF in Iraq, Shima San Gupta, said, during the announcement of the activities of the World Immunization Week, which started today, Tuesday, in the capital, Baghdad, “We are facing major diseases due to lack of immunization between the years 21-22, when we registered 14 million individuals, who were affected, and therefore the importance of immunization is clear and important strategy to save people’s lives.”

She added, “In Iraq, we are proud to say that bacteria and their diseases have been reduced, and have achieved wide coverage due to the vaccination campaigns that have taken place. Therefore, we appreciate the efforts of the Ministry of Health for the achieved achievement,” indicating that “UNICEF and World Health Organization are still continuing to be active partners with the Ministry of Health.”

The UN official affirmed, “UNICEF supports the ministry in national vaccination campaigns by providing the vaccine, assisting the government, enabling advice and counseling on vaccines, and supporting community behaviors in the targeted areas to enhance the vaccination process.”

She explained, “UNICEF supports the Ministry of Health also in the process of promoting vaccination and immunization campaigns, in order to make these campaigns accessible, and in addition to this coverage, we must mention the importance of integrated work in immunization services,” stressing that “the vaccine has proven to be an important and significant strategy to protect life, and the vaccine helps children to live comfortably and overcome diseases, and by vaccinating children, we help the community to be healthy and large to stop the process of spreading diseases.

She continued, “The vaccines provided to the returnees and every person who is vaccinated have wide importance among people, and we thank our partners in Iraq for their continuous support in their vaccination campaigns and in building stability for a stable health system and the response to health services. I invite you to continue to raise awareness of the extreme importance of vaccinating children, protecting them and their safety from diseases. If you are vaccinated, it will protect Iraq for a long time, and UNICEF also remains committed to supporting the Ministry of Health in national vaccination campaigns, so that there is no unvaccinated child.”

Foreign Ministry: Israeli hostile policies are nothing but disparate attempts to shuffle cards of the region

Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said on Tuesday that the Israeli aggression on Aleppo international Airport yesterday comes within a series of attacks on civilian and vital utilities including Damascus international airport, Lattakia commercial port, other scientific and culture centers.

“Those Israeli hostile policies are nothing but disparate attempts to shuffle cards of the region and confuse the diplomatic current movement, this movement which aims to restore security and stability to the region,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The statement added that Syria condemns, in the strongest terms, the Israeli latest aggression and warns of the continuation of perpetrating such attacks and calls upon the UN and Security council to break their silence, assume their responsibility and put an end to the Israeli hostile policies and bring their perpetrators to justice.

Dollar rate falls to 80.15 rubles as Moscow Exchange trading opens

The dollar-to-ruble rate fell by 10 kopecks to the closure of previous trading and amounted to 80.15 rubles at the opening of trading on the Moscow Exchange on Tuesday.

There were no deals at the euro exchange rate at the beginning of trading.

In turn, the yuan lost 0.3 kopecks amounted to 11.583 rubles

Syrian team in Group B at pre-qualifying tournaments for Paris 2024 Olympics

According to a draw conducted by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the Syrian basketball team came in Group B at FIBA Olympic pre-qualifying tournaments for Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, along with the teams of Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.

The Group A included China Taipei, South Korea, India and Bahrain.

It is noteworthy that only one team from the eight teams will qualify for Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

The Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
