Al-Kadhimi confirms to Abu Al-Ghait Iraq’s serious desire to build the best relations with the brotherly Arab countries / Expanded

Baghdad Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi met today, Tuesday, in New York, with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, on the sidelines of participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, Al-Kadhimi reviewed, according to a statement by his media office, the efforts made by the Iraqi government to adopt a meaningful national dialogue between the political forces, which paves the way for a way out of the current political crisis, helps maintain civil peace, and consolidate stability in Iraq.

The Prime Minister affirmed Iraq’s serious desire to build the best relations with the brotherly Arab countries, as well as support the crucial Arab issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, stressing the importance of the upcoming Arab summit in Algeria to put a solution to Arab and regional issues.

For his part, Aboul Gheit commended Al-Kadhimi’s efforts in promoting the path of national reconciliation and his initiative for national dialogue, stressing the Arab League’s support for the Iraqi government, and its prominent role in easing tensions in the region by adopting a policy of dialogue and calm, and working to bring different viewpoints closer. / End
