Barzani to a French official: Without solving the problems of Baghdad and Erbil, political stability in Iraq will not be achieved

Baghdad The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, said during his meeting with Christian Cambon, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense and Armed Forces in the French Senate (Sinat), that without solving the problems of Baghdad and Erbil, political stability in Iraq will not be achieved.

The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region said in a statement that the two sides discussed during the meeting the relations of the region and Iraq with France, and ways to enhance joint cooperation, and the two sides exchanged views on the problems of Erbil – Baghdad, the dangers of ISIS in Iraq and Syria, the Iraqi political situation and the challenges facing Iraq.

Nechirvan Barzani renewed his expression of thanks and appreciation of the Kurdistan region for the French political, military and humanitarian support, and he singled out the role of President Emmanuel Macron and his efforts to achieve security and stability in Iraq and the region in general.

He expressed the hope that the friends of Iraq would provide assistance to Iraq and the Kurdistan region to solve their problems, stressing that without solving the problems of Erbil-Baghdad, political stability will not be achieved in Iraq, and considered solving the problems between the two sides a key to security and stability in Iraq.

For his part, Cambon stressed the importance of strengthening his country’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan region, especially in the field of economy and investment, expressing France’s readiness to help Iraq and the Kurdistan region to solve their problems and restore stability.
