Riyadh– Senior Associate to the President and Vice President of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Dr. Najah Ashry has commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s organization of the 2nd Global AI Summit, which is currently held at the King Abdul Aziz International Conference Center in Riyadh.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on the occasion of KAUST’s participation in the summit, she said: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s organization of the summit puts it in a leading position in developing this vital field and providing solutions to challenges facing the world in this sector,” noting that KAUST’s participation in the summit, through the exhibition accompanying the event, was based on its importance in serving national priorities and due to the fact that KAUST shares same views with Saudi Data and AI Authority in these important technological fields.
Dr. Ashry noted that the university’s pavilion witnessed a remarkable turnout from various categories and nationalities, stressing that the pavilion is an opportunity to exchange expertise with local and international experts and to explore investment opportunities related to AI over the coming stage.
For his part, the first scientist of research at the Computational Imaging Center at KAUST Mohamed Shalaby said that the university’s participation in the exhibition aims at shedding light on one of the startups at KAUST, which is FalconViz that was founded in 2015 and is specialized in drones, and is considered a bright example for the development of technology and thoughts that are born at the university, noting that these drones conduct aerial surveys and imaging and are used for the planning of major projects, such as AlUla City projects, Al Diriyah and historical Jeddah, among others.
