Stopping (32) cases of electronic blackmail and (44) cases of domestic violence

Baghdad, The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of (32) cases of electronic blackmail and (44) cases of domestic violence, noting that (6) runaway girls were returned to their families.

The Ministry stated in a statement: ‘The suspension and reinstatement operations came from the community police divisions and detachments spread throughout the country’s governorates, against the backdrop of appeals received to the community police via its toll-free hotline (497).’

It added, “After search and investigation operations, these detachments were able to take the necessary measures against the extortionists and the violent, and to provide psychological and moral support to the victims.”

A fire destroys one of the markets in Amara

Al-Amara, A large fire broke out inside Zubaid Market in the city of Al-Amara, the center of Maysan Governorate.

A source in the Civil Defense told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): ‘The Civil Defense teams rushed to the scene of the fire and controlled it before it expanded and spread, indicating that no human damage was recorded as a result of the fire.’

Joint operations announce the results of the air strike in the Hamrin Mountains

Baghdad, The Joint Operations Command announced today, the results of the air strike in the Hamrin Mountains.

The Command said in a statement: ‘With distinguished efforts, diligent follow-up, great intelligence maturity, and accurate information from the Directorate of Military Intelligence, and in cooperation and coordination with the targeting cell/Joint Operations Command, and after the F-16 Falcons of the Air Force carried out an air strike on one of the hideouts of ISIS terrorist elements in the Hamrin mountain range/Command sector, Diyala Operations: At 08:10 this morning, a force from the First Division within the Diyala Operations Command and the Reconnaissance Battalion of the Military Intelligence Directorate left to search the targeted location.

It added: ‘The force found the bodies of two dangerous terrorists from ISIS leaders, and quantities of weapons, ammunition, and equipment for members of ISIS terrorist gangs.’

The PMF returns 126 displaced families to their areas of residence south of Salah al-Din

Baghdad, The 41st Brigade of the Popular Mobilization Forces returned 126 displaced families from Ashti camp in northern Iraq to their residential areas in Salah al-Din Governorate.

The Popular Mobilization Commission stated in a statement, ‘The families returned to Al-Shehabi area in Yathrib district, south of Salah al-Din Governorate, after securing the area, removing military remnants, and providing infrastructure in cooperation with the relevant departments.’

Turkish MoD announces the killing of 19 PKK militants in air strikes in northern Iraq and Syria

Istanbul, The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the killing of 19 PKK militants in air strikes carried out by Turkish warplanes in northern Iraq and Syria.

The Turkish Defense Ministry stated in a statement today, Tuesday, that units of the Turkish army stationed in the areas of Hakurk, Matina, and Gara, and in charge of the ‘Claw Lock’ operations in northern Iraq, were exposed to fire from militants affiliated with the PKK, and the situation required the use of warplanes. Their raids resulted in the killing of 15 of them and the withdrawal of the others.

The Turkish Defense Ministry indicated in its statement that its fighter jets carried out air strikes on sites of Kurdish People’s Protection Units militants in northern Syria, which resulted in the killing of four Kurdish organization militants and the destruction of a number of their headquarters and positions in northern Syria.

It is noteworthy that the Turkish army had carried out a large military operation on April 18, 2021, and it is still conti
nuing, called Claw Lock, against the strongholds of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party in the areas of Matina, Gara, Hakurk, Al-Zab, Afshin, and Bazian in northern Iraq.

3 new massacres…the number of martyrs in Gaza has risen to 34,183 since October 7th

Baghdad, Palestinian medical sources announced, today, Tuesday, that the number of martyrs in the Gaza Strip has risen to 34,183, most of them children and women, since the start of the Zionist entity’s aggression on the seventh of last October.

These sources stated, according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), that the number of injuries rose to 77,143, while thousands of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, as the occupation forces prevent ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching them.’

It indicated: ‘The occupation forces committed three massacres during the past twenty-four hours, resulting in the death of 32 Palestinians and the injury of 59 others.’

A network, imposes ‘royalties’ under threat arrested in Maysan

Baghdad, The National Security Service detachments in Maysan Governorate overthrew a network practicing blackmail and threats consisting of (5) defendants, including a woman.

The National Security Service stated in a statement: ‘The members of the network admitted during the investigation, after being confronted with overwhelming evidence, that they targeted well-known personalities and owners of shops and beauty salon, in order to blackmail and threaten them to obtain money under the name (royalties).’

It added: ‘The accused were referred to the competent judicial authorities to receive a fair penalty in accordance with the law.’

Remnants of a ballistic missile found in a border area in Diyala

Baquba, A security force found the remains of a missile east of Baqubah, the center of Diyala Governorate.

A security source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency /NINA: ‘A joint force found the remains of a ballistic missile on the outskirts of Mandali district, east of Baquba.’

He added: ‘The civil defense teams took the necessary measures, without causing damage or human casualties.’

Iraqi F-16 aircraft bomb terrorist hideouts in Hamrin mountain range in Diyala

Baghdad, Today, Tuesday, Iraqi Air Force aircraft carried out a crushing strike on one of the hideouts of ISIS terrorist elements in the Hamrin mountain range.

The Security Media Cell said in a statement: ‘With distinguished efforts, diligent follow-up, great intelligence maturity, and very accurate information by the Military Intelligence Directorate, and in cooperation and coordination with the Targeting Cell/Joint Operations Command, the F-16 Falcons carried out a crushing air strike on one of the hideouts of ISIS terrorist elements in a mountain range Hamrin/ Diyala Operations Command sector, at 08:10 this morning, and this successful strike led to the killing of a number of terrorists.’

It added: ‘Our brave hawks and men in the Military Intelligence Directorate are on standby to tackle any terrorist target, and we will continue to pursue terrorist elements until the national territory is cleansed of their evils and desecration and may God help those who help Him.’

Today’s Newspapers follow Erdogan’s visit and focus on the strategic framework agreement

Baghdad, The newspapers published in Baghdad today, Tuesday, the twenty-third of April followed the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iraq, and focused on the strategic framework agreement and the signing of many memorandums of understanding.

Al-Sabah newspaper, published by the Iraqi Media Network, said: ‘Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan inaugurated in Baghdad yesterday, Monday, the first steps of a road map that represents a historic turning point in the relationship between the two neighboring countries, and the two sides signed the ‘Strategic Framework Agreement,’ which “moves relations to their highest levels for the first time in decades.”

The newspaper added: ‘Al-Sudani and Erdogan sponsored the signing of 25 important memorandums of understanding in various fields, most notably a quadripartite memorandum of understanding between Iraq, Turkey, Qatar and the UAE, aimed at joint cooperation on the strategic (development road) project.’

t continued: ‘Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan headed the delegations of the two countries in the expanded discussions that were held in the government palace in Baghdad, and the discussions witnessed discussions on developing commercial and economic relations, increasing trade and encouraging investment, at the official level through the joint economic committee between the two countries, and seeking to activate the Iraqi-Turkish Business Council, and make it a platform through which the two parties exchange their practical experiences, and participate in enhancing cooperation and developing projects in the two countries, as was done during the discussions, emphasizing the strengthening of mutual security between the two countries, and not allowing the lands of the two countries to be a starting point for aggression between them.

Al-Zawraa newspaper, published by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, highlighted on its front page and with a prominent headline the
signing of the strategic framework agreement by Iraq and Turkey and more than 24 memorandums of understanding.

In this regard, it said: ‘Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and the Turkish President sponsored the signing of the strategic framework agreement and more than 24 memorandums of understanding, and they stressed the importance of establishing joint Iraqi-Turkish industrial institutions inside Iraq.’

It added: “The Turkish President indicated that Iraq constitutes an important trade center for Turkey, stressing that the agreements that were signed represent a turning point in our relations with Iraq.”

The newspaper indicated that the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received at the Baghdad Palace the President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and his accompanying delegation, and they held bilateral discussions that dealt with strengthening relations between the two countries and mechanisms for developing cooperation in various fields. The need for coordination
and joint work was also stressed in order to reach satisfactory solutions to issues related to security, economy, and water, in a way that serves the aspirations of the neighboring Iraqi and Turkish peoples.’

It continued: ‘Extensive discussions took place between the two sides, focusing on political, security and economic issues, bilateral relations between the two countries, ways to enhance intra-trade, encourage investment opportunities, and the water issue.’

Al-Zawraa stated: ‘President Erdogan stressed the importance of relations between the two countries and the necessity of developing them to include various fields, and that Turkey stands by Iraq in its war against terrorism and in confronting security, environmental and economic challenges. He expressed his country’s understanding of Iraq’s water needs and its keenness to cooperate in this field and through joint committees between the two countries.’

On the issue of water, Al-Zaman newspaper followed the trend of the Ministry of Water Resources to
implement new technologies, with the aim of activating modern methods to improve and develop the water resources sector in all governorates.

According to the newspaper, Minister of Water Resources Aoun Dhiab stressed the effectiveness and benefits of using concrete fabric technology to line irrigation projects, which is being used for the first time, noting: ‘The technology will achieve a qualitative leap.’

The Minister explained: ‘The process of introducing a new technology requires time to study it and learn the details of the work and the extent of its feasibility. The Ministry concluded by starting experimental work with the aim of benefiting from this method due to a number of factors, including the speed of implementation, as lining 500 meters requires a day or a day and a half, while previously it required a month or two.”

He pointed out: ‘This method serves the aspect of calculating costs primarily to know and compare modern technologies with traditional ones,’ noting that the success of testing th
is technology will lead to a qualitative shift in lining the irrigation and drainage canals on a large scale, and will be relied upon to address the problem of waste, which supports optimal use for water resources as stated in the government programme.’

He added: ‘The staff began implementing the concrete quilt experiment with underwater lining, and achieved excellent and clear successes,’ pointing out that it will be rolled out in all governorates in the future because it is a new and previously unused method, with the efforts of the General Authority for Maintenance affiliated with the Ministry, which had the main role in implementation, after it headed to Britain to import the required material and review the available capabilities.’
