New York, The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, participated in the joint ministerial meeting between the Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union (EU).
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the European Union in New York, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The GCC side was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, with the participation of GCC Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the GCC Secretary-General, Dr. Nayef bin Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf.
The EU side was chaired by the EU High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Joseph Borrell.
The two sides highlighted the strong GCC-EU relations, and discussed means for further developing bilateral cooperation in various fields to serve mutual interests.
They also discussed the latest regional and international developments and their common challenges, including security and stability of the region, climate change, energy, and food security.
