President stresses the necessity of ending the file of the displaced, emptying the camps, and rebuilding the city of Sinjar

Baghdad, The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the necessity of ending the file of the displaced, emptying the camps, and rebuilding the city of Sinjar.

During his meeting with the Emir of the Yazidis in Iraq and the world, Hazem Tahsin Beg, and his accompanying delegation, which included clan heads, social and religious figures, and elites from the Yazidi community, the president said: “The Yazidis are among the original components that made huge sacrifices in the war against ISIS gangs, and were subjected to various terrorist crimes, including killing, displacement and captivity, and it is time to do justice to them and provide care and attention to the people of this national component .”

The president affirmed that he was very affected by the heinous crimes committed against the Yazidis by ISIS, as well as what happened previously in the city of Halabja of a heinous crime during the days of the dictatorial regime, indicating: “All parties support the cause of the Yazidis, and redress them for what they were subjected to.”

The President of the Republic praised the approval of the German parliament and other countries to consider what ISIS committed against our Yazidi people a crime of genocide, expressing his appreciation for their noble humanitarian stance.

He called for strengthening international efforts to identify the fate of the missing and disappeared Yazidis, and to resolve this issue because of its social and legal repercussions.

He stressed the need to expedite the return of the displaced, create a suitable environment for them, end their file, emptying the camps, and rebuild the city of Sinjar as quickly as possible, indicating that he called on the United Nations organizations and the Minister of Migration and Displaced to make more efforts in this regard, and restore the departments in Sinjar to work.

In turn, the Emir Hazem Tahsin Beg stressed the Yazidis’ adherence to their national identity and their insistence on strengthening unity among the Iraqi components in a way that enhances cohesion and bonds among Iraqis and preserve civil peace and security.

The head of the delegation expressed the desire for the President of the Republic to assume responsibility for defending the rights of the Yazidis and to be the protector and adopter of their demands for the return, the reconstruction of the city of Sinjar, and the provision of necessary services to the people of the city.
