Saudi International Iron & Steel Conference Discusses Building Technologies in NEOM Industrial City “OXAGON”

Riyadh– CEO of NEOM Industrial City “OXAGON” Vishal Wanzhou has revealed that building the city during the next decade consumes the largest amount of iron and steel, and construction will take into account the importance of carbon neutralization and the use of clean energy.
He highlighted, during his participation in the 2nd Saudi International Conference for the Steel Industry, held in Riyadh, that Oxagon is “committed to applying the highest environmental standards within industries, construction, mining, and waste treatment, adding that 40% of NEOM staff are Saudis who have received the best quality of education and contribute to realizing the city’s ambitious vision, in addition to other workers from 70 different nationalities.
The CEO indicated that the Kingdom, through these projects and mega-cities, has a historic opportunity to lead the global transformation in renewable energy solutions, building technologies, and modern industries compatible with the environment, noting that the production of green hydrogen in NEOM will start in 2026 with a capacity of 650 tons per day and will be used in industries such as green steel and cement with less carbon content, and the city will be run 100% by renewable energy.
He underlined that Oxagon “will be the industrial heart of NEOM per a vision that aims to be the leading region for advanced clean industries, innovation, research, and supply chain platforms, given its distinguished location on the Red Sea, where nearly 13% of global trade crosses and will work to attract industries to build an export-based economy.”
