Baghdad The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate announced its welcome and high appreciation for the decision of the Supreme Judicial Council, which included forming publishing courts in the center of the Courts of Appeals, specialized in examining complaints about journalists related to their journalistic work, and emphasizing the circulate of the previous council regarding the notification of the Journalists Syndicate of any complaint submitted against journalists.

The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate said in a statement: “This decision expresses and confirms the keenness of the judiciary in Iraq, which it has expressed on more than one occasion, to provide appropriate climates and environment for the work of journalists, and its sense of the importance of their role in society and the consolidation of the foundations of democracy in the new Iraq.”

The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate appreciated the responsible position of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, for his continuous support to the press family, which will be a new push factor for journalists to perform their journalistic duty freely and without pressure.

It expressed its hope that this decision would provide a wider space of freedom for journalists, in a way that enhances their positive role in serving and defending the people’s causes.

Baquba The Local Administration of Khanaqin in Diyala Governorate decided to prevent the entry of journalists from outside the district without official approval.

A document issued by the Mayor of Khanaqin, obtained by NINA, said that it was decided to prevent the entry of any journalist or media team from outside Khanaqin without obtaining official approvals.

Activists and specialists confirmed that the reasons for the decision are due to the publication of media reports that offend the traditions and customs of Khanaqin and exploit people suffering from mental illnesses or select them in a directed way to market an agenda trying to create chaos and social disintegration.

For his part, the representative of the Metro Center for Defending the Rights of Journalists in Khanaqin, Amir Khanaqin, confirmed that the decision comes to protect Khanaqin from campaigns of targeting and abuse through media and news reports far from the conservative and committed reality in the city and its solid social cohesion.

He indicated that the decision excludes journalists in Khanaqin who belong to the journalists’ unions and are officially recognized to prevent trolls and those who attack the press from discrediting the professional media in Khanaqin and other areas, stressing that “the Khanaqin community refuses to prejudice its heritage and historical authenticity.

Baghdad The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb Mukhif, discussed today, Monday, with the Head of the Iraqi-British Business Council, Baroness Emma Nicholson, cooperation frameworks.

The media office of the Central Bank said in a statement: “Mukhif received Nicholson, today, and during the meeting, they discussed frameworks for cooperation, training, developing banking cadres and building bilateral partnerships, to serve the banking and economic sector in Iraq.”

Baghdad The Minister of Oil and Acting Minister of Finance Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar announced that no less than 800 million dollars were illegally withdrawn from the Rafidain Bank.

Abdul-Jabbar said in a televised statement: “The Integrity Commission has started investigations with the money that was withdrawn from the Rafidain Bank.”

He added, “What the former Finance Minister said in his resignation letter applies to tax departments.”

He continued: “There are big differences in the contracts and quantities of extraction in the region’s oil fields, adding that the Federal Court’s decision on the oil and gas law in the region is very fair, explaining that the net return to the state treasury from the region’s oil does not exceed 40 percent.”

He stated, that the decision of the Federal Court regarding the National Oil Company was surprising, noting that the decision of the Federal Court challenged the legal effect of the position of the head of the National Oil Company.

A Legal Expert to / NINA /: Al-Halbousi’s submission to his resignation is legal and may not get the majority

Baghdad The legal expert, Amir Al-Daami, confirmed that Al-Halbousi’s resignation is legal and may not obtain a majority.

He told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that according to the internal system of the House of Representatives, the resignation is legal by submitting it to the House of Representatives for a vote if the absolute majority obtains half plus one.

Al-Daami suggested not accepting it or obtaining that majority, and therefore it may be a renewal of the pledge of allegiance to the presidency of the Council.

The Parliament is scheduled to hold its session the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, with an agenda that includes two paragraphs, the first of which is Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi submitting his resignation to vote.
